Which Plane?
 

Hi Guys!

I'm interested in adding a built-up 3D plane to my hangar. I've had my eye on the following models:

1. Katana Mini
2. Eflite Mini Funtana
3. Eflite Mini Edge 540

Any pro's and con's between these models?

Katana Mini!!!! The others are overweight and don't fly well. The Katana Mini just floats forever and I love mine! I fly it like a foamy and it has no problem doing everything!

Katana Mini, the e-flite ones are just well... I just dont like them at all. You ll be nothing but happy with the katana mini.

Lately I prefer profile's, I think they fly better. That being said take a look at the Skeeter lineup. Quinn Coldiron has developed several sizes of them from 30" to 40" + all for electric. I just finished a Skeeter 30 and it's amazing. With a Hacker A20-20L it has ballistic pullout of hover. It also came in .5oz lighter than my Eflite Ultimate foamy at 14oz even AUW with battery and landing gear.

At least the 30 is available from [link]http://www.billyhellrc.com[/link] as an ARF made in the USA for $80. The plans are free and available on RCGroups. Just search Google for "Let's build a Skeeter" it's the first link that comes up. I got a kit from Quinn and it was the easiest build I have ever done. I framed the wing in my hand and it came out perfectly straight.

Otherwise consider planes other than the Eflite planes you listed.

I own the Katana Mini, and the Mini Funtana. Of the two the Katana Mini wins. But a better flying plane than both is the e-tana from Mountain Models. Of course you have to actually build it. (Shudder).

Funny you should mention the MM Etana! I have built other MM planes and was just looking at their site. If it is really a better fliwer, that may be the way to go.

What about the MM EVA 3D?

I build a MM EVA 3D - Like all of Doug's kits it goes together great. Unfortunatly I had a radio failure on the second flight and turned it into toothpicks, so I cannot speak to how it flies, (never even got the CG right)

I am currently buiding the MM EVA Bipe - probably have it in the air this weekend. It comes out a little heavier so I put a Hacker 20-20L in it. I will give a flight report when done.
