Hyperion CAP 232 25e?
1 Attachment(s)
I just ordered one....late x-mas present to myself. The usual old-spice this year again.
46.7 inch span 43 length, this is a bigger elec model, but weighs in at 2.5 pounds all up, by the specs. Also ordered a Hyperion 50 amp esc. So far I have a Hacker A30-16M 330 watt motor for it. Going up to a Hyperion 3025 when I can afford to make my next order. Does anyone have one? Built, flown one? I have had other Hyperion planes before and they are extremely nice, well built, well designed elec models. I'd like to know if anyone has one in service at this time, and if so, How Many Wats are you using? Dr Ed |
RE: Hyperion CAP 232 25e?
I don`t have that model, but some other Hyperions in my hangar.
A 3025 is too much (too heavy) motor! They recommend the Z3019-12 for that plane. A friend of mine has built the Edge 540 25e using that motor. Enough power and good handling. He flew using a 3S2500 LiPo. The 3025 weight 45 grams more. I use the 3025-10 in my Magister, runs on 4S LiPo and tows gliders up to 2 meters wingspan behind it... Close to 600 Watt. |
RE: Hyperion CAP 232 25e?
I've been fancying this particular Hyperion plane for some time. I am an avid fan of the Cap232 and I love the colour scheme on this one.
Have you built her up and flown her yet? If so, let us know what you think of her. Regards, Dave |
RE: Hyperion CAP 232 25e?
Finances have to date prevented me from ordering, so I'll have to wait longer to order it. I see that the big motor is not recommended by joonorway. My Hacker A30-16M is very similar in size and horsepower to the Hyperion motor 3019. Perhaps it's the correct one to use. The A30 is in my Seagull Extra, and is more that enough for it to knife-edge-loop. I hope it can handle the 50 amp controller, because the CAP will need good power to do the same. I have two 3-cell 1350mah 15c packs for parallel connection. 2700 PACK TO DELIVER 42 amps. Also I have two 2100mah 3-cell packs to parallel for 60 amps. The motors extended current (the A30) is 35 amps max. I believe in specs, but I have to push that figure, because I have wound my own motors. The gauge of wire and the multiple windings can carry more than 35, I know. The conservative specs are the safe specs, not neccessarily the full envelope. Burning that much energy is a tough one. The motor will be fitted with the Hacker A30 fan. Drivecalc puts the 3019 at 2 kilos thrust, and the max on 11x5.5 for the A30 is 1.56 kilos. Currently I'm turning a 12x6 with the A30 no problem, and I'm not sure of the thrust yeild because the Drivecalc doesn't recommend this prop.
