E-flite Tribute FX question
Hello everyone out there in RCU land. I have been looking at the E-flite tribute FX as my next plane, but I want to use my 370 outrunner and a 11.1V 1320mah li-poly. Well, basicly what I am asking is will the tribute go vertical or at least hover with a Park 370?

It would be way underpowered with a 370 outrunner motor. |

What he said. After testing a couple of powerplants out in the TFX, I've come to the conclusion you need at least about 16+amps to 3D well. The 1320 is a great match for this size airframe. 11 x 4.7 SF props are a great starting point. So any setup within those specs should perform well. Just try and keep the weight to 18oz or less and you'll be rewarded with some spirited 3D antics!

OK I have my Tribute up and running and I am running the AXI 2212/26 1320 lipo and Phoenix 10 controller APC 10x4.75
It flies great with this combo A question I have is; How does the AXI 2212/26 compare to the 380,400.480 etc. in performance? Then there is the different number of winds in a given motor size. Fairly new to the e stuff and am curious as to how do I compare the different motors. Watts? Kv? Amps?.... Oh My!!! I guess I need to go back and relearn the OHMs law. Thanks Wayne |

I'm no expert, but here is what I know:
Combination of Watts and KV's would be a good comparison between motors since it shows the power (watts) and speed (KV's). The Amps will give you the limitation on the motor and determines the type of ESC to get. I usually get an ESC rated higher than the motor's max amperage to be on the safe side. To avoid motor/battery damage, I use a wattmeter (Watt's UP) to measure amperage at full throttle and make sure I don't exceed the amperage limitations of the motor/battery/ESC combination. Motors should also come with data regarding limitations as to prop size (min to max). Size and pitch affects power required (amps). Hope above helps out. |

If you want the perfect powerplant for this plane, look no further than the MicroDan 2510-3D! 16amps with 32oz thrust on a 11 x 4.7SF. All at a nice weight of 1.9oz. And the best part is Dan basically gives you a lifetime warranty. Even if you doink it, pay the shipping and Dan will fix it and send it back for free. Don't think too many manufacturers' will do that! My friends lasted about 500 hard 3D flights and the bearing started to wear. Sent it back and it was repaired to mint condition. Nuff said!:D Get one you won't be sorry!

THis AXI has plenty of power for this plane. I was just trying to figure out how it compares to the other motors that people are throwing out there. Like the MicroDan 25120 3D and the park 480 motors... how do they compare to the AXI 2212/26? THanks Wayne |
