E-flite gear
 

Guy's could I get your feedback on alternative's for this manufacturers recommended gear, I am just looking to see if there are better alternatives out there or should I just go with it.

you may want to go with the 480 and a 30 amp from eflite,more performance if needed.their is stuff is good.
Phoenix makes good esc's also

I've been using their motors and some of the other recommended things. I have a preference for Castle Creation ESC's, though. American-made and computer programability do it for me. The new "switch-mode" ESC's from EFlite are very interesting, though, especially if you want to use more than 4 servos.

I use mostly Hacker motors, Castle ESC and RX, T-power batteries. I have had great
results.

Thanks for the replies, I have been told, (I am new to electric, I fly gassers usually) that Hacker is a better motor, I know we all have our own opinions, but I was thinking of going with a Hacker A30-22S Brushless Outrunner Motor 70g 168W with their ESC and a 3 cell 11.1V TP lipo, Yes ? or No ?

I have been flying the E-flite 540BP edge in the backyard for extra thumb practice with the afore mentioned gear and have bought a second one and wish to set it up with different gear just for the hell of it, and to allow me to experience some different things as I learn about electric flying.

Can't help you with the Hacker things, never owned any. I use Castle ESC's because I can program them on the computer. I get confused with all the stick-wiggling involved in programming an ESC. I just ordered the programming kit for the EFlite 40 Switch-Mode ESC. Again, easier. I use EFlite motors and AXI's. Never had a problem.

Diesel you will be very happy with the hacker motor and ESC combo, I have a few friends that
use hacker ESC and Motors. I have had great success with hacker motors and Castle ESC's
I have also used e-flite motors and they work great. I also have the e-flite edge 540 Balsa
profile with a park 480, Castle t-bird 36 ESC and 3S 1320 T-power prolites. 11x4.7 prop.

Hackers may offer a bit more punch than E flite,never heard any (real number) complains about either.It really pays off to buy quality,spend an extra 5 or 10 buck per item and the you will have troublefree performance.

Try scorpion motors @ www.innov8tivedesigns.com - the 3008 series is what will work in place of a 480. Wonderful motors.

Hacker motors are some of the best quality for your buck motors out there IMHO, I've used quite a few brands and although I don't have much or any bad to say about the other brands I've used including Axi, E-flite and a few others the Hackers just have that bit of an edge above the others when it comes to efficiency and quality. Of course this comes at a price. If you're seriously in a jam budget wise I'd always suggest looking at the E-flite motors, they do get the job done most of the time. I'm however in the process of slowly changing all the motors I run in foamies and things over to Hackers if this gives you any idea how much I've fallen in love with the brand, their really worth the extra penny if you take the proper time to pick the right motor/prop combo...which is also pretty easy with the Hackers (They have the right motor for virtually every application). The only other brand I'd class above Hacker at the moment is Steve Neu's motors from my experience, but the Neu motors IMHO is for those with plenty of change or a serious competitive requirement...excellent stuff.

Hacker ESC's also rock! Can't say I have much love for the E-flite speedcontrollers but as long as you use them in safe enviroments they also work. The world models ESC's mentioned above are also great bang for your buck stuff along with some others.

I went ahead and ordered the Hacker motor and ESC as posted above, as far as budget I wish my usual choice of bird was as cheap as these electric's, and the kicker is I can fly every day, weather permitting, no hooking up the trailer and driving an hour to the field, I wish I had got into electric earlier, it would have saved me a few dollars in crash damage.
