Great Planes Ultimate Bipe E-Performance

I just finished a Great Planes Ultimate Bipe E-Performance and have an old spektrum AR6000 I was thinking about using with this plane along with a DX6i. The LHS told me it was not a good idea to use the AR6000 with this plane. I was told due to the location of the reciever in the plane certain 3d manuevers would cause me to lose sync with the TX. Are they just trying to get me to spend more money or are there real concerns with this combo?

I'm using the DX7 with leftover AR6000 receivers in most of my planes and helis. Everything from a fiberglass fuse P-51 and EF Yak-54 to my semi scale MD-500 helicopter. I actually went into a hobby shop to buy another AR6000 and 2 guys there told me it would not work with my TX. Not sure if they had the compatibility backwards or not. But I gave them a quick (and respectful) education on DSM1 vs DSM2 compatibility. Don't see why you can't use that RX and TX combo.

Thank you for the Feedback. The LHS recomendation just didn't make sense to me. Wish me Luck... If the weather is good this weekend she will be in the air. :)

The only thing about the Spektrum stuff is that it's not necessarily bulletproof. They claim that it is, but it isn't. A good friend of mine is having interference problems with his at our favorite flying site. He is getting hit by nearby wi-fi signals. This guy is actually an electrical engineer and has analyzed this with a spectrum analyzer. In my opinion the 2.4G bands are definetly getting crowded. He is now using an old Futaba 72M radio that I had laying around and he's not having a problem now.

Just like any other radio system it's gonna have glitches and dead spots. The way I see it 2.4 just get's rid of the "who's on channel XX?" sydrome. Control line is really the only bombproof control system.
