Default .40 Sized 3d Profile?

Hi,

Just got back into the hobby after a bunch of years away. I currently have an 60 sized Extra 330s that I'm having a lot of fun with, however I'm looking for something a little smaller that is easier to bring places and a little less expensive/ easier to rebuild when I get brave and bite the dust.

So I'd like to find a good .40 sized 3d profile plane that will fly well with a .50 or .55 engine. I've dug up a lot of old threads trying to do my own research, but they all seem to be old threads with planes that are no longer made...

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Austin

For ARF - Maxford USA sells the P51 and a P47 profiles. Maxford USA
Value Hobby sells the Sabre. http://www.valuehobby.com/airplanes/...dy-to-fly.html

For kit - Tower sells a P51 kit profile, the F51.

Ohio models products have some nice profile planes. You may want to check that out.

For an ARF the Sabre is a decent option.
For kits:

Thanks for the replies! I've definitely scrolled right by the Fun 51 on Tower's site many times and never took a look at it. It actually seems like a good little kit, though the control surfaces look a little small to do any serious 3D. But hey, for $60 plus some glue and covering it's worth a try...

I have had a Fun 51 and they are fun to fly but aren't really a 3rd type plane. Now take that with a grain of salt. I am NOT any where near a 3rd pilot but I had a differnt profile after that and could hover it a little. I could never hover the 51.

Not a profile but a funfly the Weston Cougar 2000 is an ARF. It flies much like a typical slab.

I am not sure if they are still sold in the USA but are available from Weston UK.

Boy am I surprised to not be able to find a profile plane today! I have had a Carl Goldberg Extreme 330 profile for years. I finally crashed it today..... Went looking to replace it and there is nothing! I remember when I bought that plane profiles were all the rage. It's too bad. I did order the Sabre, but it makes me think I should buy 2!
