Currently I'm 15, to be 16 in 2 months.
At 7 I built my first free-flight model (rubberband powered) and at 11 got my first R/C plane. Had 6 planes since then, although only 2 are still alive. Got another on the building board, my 7th, that I expect to be flying by 2 weeks time.
I got into 3D about 1 year ago, and I still regret why I didn't get into it earlier....
Also, 30% gassers are visible on the not so far horizon....

In 8 days I will be thirty. I took up flying last summer right after I got laid off. I now need a job but have become a real good pilot flying damn near 5 days a week for the last year or so.

I will be 27 on September 30th.

I flew on and off as a teenager, with a sailplane and an electric sailplane.

Soloed my trainer sometime last March, so I guess about 5 or 6 months now of flying at least 2-3 times per week.

I'm 45... Started flying pattern at the age of 8 flew 5 more years and diccovered girls and STUFF. Got back in a few times. Finally decided Professional Drag Racing was it! After 20 years of all the fun I was in the wrong place at the wrong time and heard a glow engine running, Had to investigate and WHAM! I got back in. Today I'm very active here in Sacramento,Ca. Flying mostly 3-D stuff. Also I race scale warbirds, Fly and design lots of foamys, I enjoy 3-D float flying as well as Giant scale racing, I like my Composite arf 40%s the best and also my Double Vision..........Later

Hi,

I'm 29, flying for 17 years now and just started with a "3D" plane-Diabolotin-, but need to practice a lot (Still need to learn all the maneuvers including hovering)

Is it just me and the club I'm flying in but it seems that everyone flies pattern and 3D when only flying for 3 or 4 months. How much do you fly than? Everyday of the week for 4h or so? We must be stupid pilots in Europe, when I compare it to what I read here.
I also read some post of people who fly "3D" but do not yet have the permission (certificate) to fly in front of public. Strange...

well ive been flying since only january. and i'm doing 3D with a Ucando46. I can hover, KE, flat spin. inv. FS, blender, harier. im working on harier rolls and rolling circles. and point rolls. these are very challenging to me. I have progressed really fast. but this is partly because i was flying a simulator for months b4 i got out to real world in january.i took off and landed my trainer the first day. and yes i have spent every posible moment on the field and every other posible moment on the sim. this spring i was at the field 5 days a week from 8:00 or 10:00 am till 3:00 PM, I haven't had quite that much time lately b/c of the bisth of my twins. and hospitol stays with them and my wife but the sim helped. plus i fly helis and that helps coordinate the rudder IMO.

so yes, at least 4h a day but not quite seven days a week. i cant wait to get my yak 54 up so i can start learning more precise flying than the UCD. i still lack precision..

we dont really have a certificate program. but some clubs do. mostly we just try to recognize newbies b4 they get themselves into trouble or endanger anyone. i do think its a good idea to have certification pogram though.

I am 67 years old, started flying in the early '60s with a four digit AMA number. Flew pattern back then. Now I fly extreme funfly planes (Rippy, Diamond Unlimited, etc.), and love 3D flying. My current favorite plane is an Extreme Flight Mini 3D with an O.S. FX .25 for power. Love this little devil. Will do anything you can think of. Other current planes are 1/4 scale Extra 300 with a Moki 180 and a Weaver Whatzit with an OS FX .32. Love funfly competition and will be getting back into 1/2A pylon racing this fall season. When I started flying RC was free flight sometimes interuppted by control.

Hi all,
I'm 45 and have been flying only about 3 full years. I fly every kind of plane you can imagine from a little Sig Wonder w/Norvel AME 25BB swinging an 8/7 APC at 17,100 rpm's to a Hostettler 30% Cessna 152. Scale flying my Midwest Super Stearman w/OS-BGX-3500 is a lot of fun also. My newest endeaver is Pattern with my Quest 3D, and still getting my butt kicked after 3 contests.
28 airplanes and a Heli.

Enough about me, who's next?

Turned 30 this past August. Been flying for about a year and three months, usually three to four times a week. Currently flying a UCD 46 with Saito 91, a modified Super Sportster with Mag 52, should maiden a H9 27% edge with OS 160 in the next day or so. Oh yea ,I also have a Tower Trainer for some real hair raising exitement[X(],teaching my wife to fly!! Should be interesting.
