I'm convinced the YS 1.1 is the way to go.
I'm convinced the YS 1.1 is the way to go.
There will be several good motors for the baby Yak but after flying the prototype with the YS 1.10 I am convinced it will be hard to beat this combination.

Ya baby - I just got my Yak / YS 1.10 combo from Chris. I'll take some pictures tonight. For those of you looking for the YS 1.10, EF has the best price I could find.

RE: Extreme Flight YAK 54
God, i can not wait until i get mine. i am going on my 6th completed month without a decent plane to fly. i ordered a little cheapy to get me through, but i have been hungering for the yak sence i pre-ordered it in mid october. the little cheapy plane and my 4 rotor thingy simply could not do much longer; i am glad my wait is coming to an end. we have all waited so long, it will be exciting, i am sure to have the plane i have been waiting for for so long show up at my front door. i'll let you guys know when it comes.

RE: Extreme Flight YAK 54
I just received my Yak-54 from Extreme Flight. I have started a review of the plane which may be seen at: [link=http://www.hamptonroadsrc.com/reviews/yak_54/yak_54.htm]Extreme Fligth Yak-54 Review[/link]
This is my first review of an ARF so it might not be the best. After each days of work on the ARF, I will try and add to the review.

RE: Extreme Flight YAK 54
OK boys - quit ripping me.
The wind gods gave me back the foamy from that big ***** tree and the Yak was a brithday present 5 years out, 4th was the Cap X, 3rd was the foamy, 2.... O who is counting. Now if the Futaba service gods would give me back my controller with that ghost extricated...
Ya - I hold the record for the slowest ARF build - I've been working on the Cap X for about 6 months now, and it's still not in the air.
I'm going to open the yak right now - I'll give you some feedback in a bit.

I've been looking for a aerobatic plane for a YS .91 I have laying around. I have no interest in doing 3-D at all (I have the extreme edge for that) and was wondering if anyone puts one in let me know if it does good old plain scale like aerobatics decent...If not I may have to move up to a 1.10.

RE: Extreme Flight YAK 54
Guys - I don't know how else to describe this plane other than - WORK OF ART!
Wayne - I've decided not to build this. I'm just going to let it sit in the box so I can admire it. This is unreal - best ARF I've EVER seen. It has composite LG, CF wing tube, fuse was tripple packed, the fuse is a work of art. I'm going to destroy this plane with the way I land. The cowl is painted perfectly, all the accessories are great, including dubro stuff (pull - pull). The LG is reinforced w/ aluminum angle, motor box is covered. Covering job is unreal.
Pictures don't do this fuse justice. you need to see it to admire it.
A+ best ARF ever. The manual is even in english (which doesn't help me - BTW). You can tell it's going to be very light.
Chris - YOU ROCK!

I am sure my opinion (in some peoples eyes) is biased because of my relationship with EF and thats fine.
Now everyone can see for themselves.
Living up to the hype for sure!

Inside diameter of the cowl where it slides over the fuse is 8 1/8"
Inside diameter of the cowl at the prop end is 5"
Cowl is quite impressive in quality.

RE: Extreme Flight YAK 54
That was a buzz kill....
My wife just came home. Wayne - that extra room might have a new inhabitant. I tried to lie about how much it cost and then she found the receipt. Then she started to cry and I tried to convince her this is the best ARF on the market and how "pretty" she (the plane) is. That went over like a fart in church. Next she started to threaten me with buying an equal amount of clothes - there go those digital servos... I told her I have everything I need to complete the plane and she told me I was lying again. This sucks. I told her the wind gods gave me back the foamy from that 100' tree, but it didn't help. I already tried "this is an investment", but she stopped believing that one about 10 planes ago. I tried to show her the nice colors and she wouldn't look....
Moral of the story - shread the receipt, hide the box, buy a shed to build in (with a big lock), don't ever look extra happy, and IT WAS WORTH IT!

RE: Extreme Flight YAK 54
Heh, the cool thing was the last plane I ordered from Extreme Flight the guy said on the phone "It will be there Friday" and it was. Makes "planning" ahead a bit easier if you know what I mean.
Know what works well also? You can buy pre-paid visa/mc cards now. Just buy em with cash - yes you pay a premium but oh well. That way you don't get a bill for it with who it went to.
