Bill Hempel crashes the 50% EDGE 540 Video
comming soon Bill Hempels 50% EDGE 540 crash,
Please check www.billhempel.com and go to the video page and see for yourself.
the video was shot in 16X9 widescreen format, and please make sure your speakers are turned on and turned up very loud....... This will be the last time you will see the 50% EDGE 540 in action, I kept the audio of the engine in the video this time as finale tribute, and listen close when the back ground music fades out in the middle of the video, you can hear Bill say " I've lost the throttle "

Yea, you could see that he was holding it inverted and when the power didn't come up and it began to fall then he flipped it over. What struck me as strange is that the elevator was almost full up without the power coming up. Hind site is always 20/20 but nose down and right bank would have been a great save.
Before the crash, the flying was awesome!

I just downloaded it, it's there. That ablolutely sucks, it looked like throttle linkage failure, everything else looks like it was working.
I think I'll go out to the shop and check all of my linkages, while I'm thinkin' about it.
Sorry for the loss Bill, you've shared some great flying with that bird.

I almost cried when I saw that airplane hit the fence. Oh my god. Im sure he's got lots of money for another one, looked like he was pretty happy.

Nose down and right bank might have been a great save, or just as easily could have ended in a great tip stall.
Looked too close to the ground to have picked up enough speed to bank right without stalling it, but I could be wrong. One thing I know for sure, Bill is one of the best pilots I've seen, I'll bet he did as well as anybody could have.

wow that really sucks. dang the barb wire just tore it apart like nothing. I can't believe that are going to rebuild it too. Can't wait to see it when its done!!! that was probably my favorite airplane that bill flew.

You'll have a very long wait as he's not going to rebuild the Edge.
