i only had a saito 100, but i have a sneaky idea that the BEST engine for it is a YS 110,considering balance and power

any of those choices r good, but a friend of mine stuck a os 108 2 stroke in it with a tuned pipe, and i doesnt have as good vertical as my funtana 40 with a 91fx 2 stroke.. this u ca do 60 is big, u wont find any diference in flight performance if u stuck a heavier more powerfull engine in it, it will handle it ok..

to answer your question I fly with a guy who has a Saito 180 in it and its insane! it is overkill and he hardly uses any of the power anyway..

Mine had a Saito 100 in it and I loved it, now that I crave more power I have recently swapped the 100 for a YS 110 which in many peoples opinion is the best bang for buck on the UCANDO

good luck

I had a super tiger 2300 on mine and it was almost a perfect combo and for $150 you really can't go wrong, came out around 8.5lbs . But it had all the power needed and was a lot of fun. Replace the stock pushrods, as mine (on the ailerons) bent in flight and was the end of my plane. My buddy put a 160 fx in his, but somehow it was over 10lbs and it had tons of power but with all of the extra weight flew like crap compared to mine.

YS 110 without a doubt for power to weight performance. I'm running a close second @ 9 lb. 11 oz. The 110 dosn't mind a bit. Did some pull tests and with a 16/6 APC I'm getting over 15 lbs. of thrust.

Now................back to the original question, the biggest engine to date is one with a RCS 1.4 gas and one with a YW 1.6 gas. I think that qualifies. Joe

I think the search phrase is U Can Do with giant scale engines. Or something like that.

Only cool item is the Hatori header with a Saito 180 spun aluminum muffler. Don't know why, but this one was heavy right out of the box. It was 8.2 lbs. with the Saito 100 and no whistles or bells. The YS 110 added 4 oz. the header and muff must be like 3 oz. and the rest can be chalked up to rebuilds. Flys great and the extra weight makes it less twitchy. I really liked the open header, but we have a DB limit at the field so I had to get a muffler. The nice part about this set up is that after a day at the field there isn't goo all over the plane. Just a light film on the underside of the fuse. Joe

Thanks for the survey...... the reason i ask is bc i acquired the 60 ucd the other day but the only motor that i have that isn't being punished!!!!!! is a saito 150.... but i wasn't sure the airframe could handle that much... the 150 saito puts out about the same power as the ys 110.. not sure of the weight difference but if someone has put a 180 on theirs then i am sure that i can get it to balance without adding more weight.... my 150 will swing an apc 17x6 @ 9200 peaked "usually richen to 9000 to fly"
on a plane around 8 lbs. this should be fun. maybe i should build a launch tower??????
5...........4............3............2........... 1.............vrooooooooooommmmmmmmmm houston we have liftoff.

My battery with the 110 is so far back that I had to stand it up as it was too narrow back there. No lead though. You will be lucky to get the recommended CG let alone any aft CG with a 150. My 110 turns a 16/6, once dialed in I usually back it off to 10500 RPM. Ooooooohh Yeeaahhhhh!!! Joe

Lee, the 17/4 was a little to low of pitch for me. Interesting responce and how the plane handled though. It actually spun lower rpms and had less thrust than the 16/6. The 16/6 APC @ 10300rpm was pulling 14 lbs. of thrust. The 17/4, which only attained 9300 rpm yeilded 12.12 lbs of thrust. GPSpacewalker was getting higher numbers than me at a lower elevation. The figures are in the YS Club thread on page 18 or 19. Joe

I put a saito 150 in mine with a 18 x 6 prop. It has unbelievable power and still floats well.

Hey guys, I'm currently in the build of my U Can Do 60. I'm putting a ys 110 in it. You say that the battery has to go way back?> How far back are you talking. Also, are you guys mounting the fuel tank around the CG? Thanks much.

Flew mine last year with a 91fx, performance was OK. I just changed it to the new OS 120AX and it is absolutely the perfect power plant. My father put the 125 saito in his and was wishing he had the OS after flying mine. The Saito is a vibrating beast. His canopy vibrated off in flight. The OS on the other hand is absolutely smooth and quite. Throttle is very linear and responsive around the hover point. The OS has the edge on power over the Saito 125. Just when I didn't think OS could make a better motor, they move the bar again. Try one, it is a master piece of engineering. Prop is a 17x6 apc
