Default t bought FUNTANA S90

Hi guys,
I have just bought FUNTANA S90 and I have brand new YS 110 engine with 16X4 wide APC prop and also YS 1.40 FZ sport engine. So which engine will be the best for this plane?? Please consider that the altitude is 900 meter where I fly.I use YS %20/20 powermaster fuel
Thks

1.40FZ would be badass [sm=punching.gif] But you may want to go with the 1.10FZ if its abit lighter. See what others have to say.

Go with the YS140 as the F90 is tail heavy if you stick with the stock design. The YS140 will add weight to the nose. But with that set up you have to use throttle management, turn something like a 17x6 minimum or even an 18x6. With that sort of set up you will prop hang at about 40% throttle! The punch out will be really kewl!!! Oh yes ... have fun looking for a muffler for the YS140. It can run with just a header ...

If you fly like a pylon racer then the 140, but it will shred the plane. This plane is a slow control plane the 110 is more than adequate. I've an OS120 and my friend a Saito 100 both are more than capable. The weight balance factor is negligible. Both our engines required no additional lead, even with rear mounted servos.

How does it hover with the OS 120? Full throttle? What prop?

wouldn't YS 1.10 be a good candidate too?

I think some of you are missing the point when I said why I would go with the YS140. I am not a pylon pilot now a power hungry Extreme 3D pilot. Still, I would love to have the F90 pull out with really great authority from a prop hang like what I see some EP planes can do. Hence, I said throttle management is a must. Again, Ahmet will be flying at almost 3,000' ASL.

ahmet;
I have the F90 with a very powerfull Saito 100 in its nose. My F90 balanced out perfectly with no extra weight needed and the battery/ receiver right at the wing tube. I even have the heavier metal geared servos in the tail and wing and still weigh not more than 8lbs 2oz. It depends all on what kind of flying you intend to do. If you are in heave 3D stuff and are really good at it, than go with the YS 110. If you have more average pilotskills than go with the Saito 100. I fly mine hardly beyond 1/2 throttle. I hover my F90 also 1/2 throttle and can easily pull out of hairy situations. Just my two cents.

My f90 balances fine with the 110 had to put the battery right at the back (see pic) so i dunno y you guys are coming out tail heavy, if you put the 140 in you may end up having to put some weight up the back as my batt is right at the back with the 110, mine hovers well under half throttle with a 16-6 k-series, but i guess the thing to do is to bolt both motors in and see how it balances up

In reply to aerobatix the props used by myself and my friend with 120 and Saito 100 is a 16 X 4 APC prop. Admittedly here in the UK we're not flying at 3000 ft more like 200ft. So in that case probably a more powerful engine may be required. But to hover it will hang at about just over half throttle. With pull outs no problem. Again the art is use gentle movements.

Has anyone noticed how difficult it can be land in a fairly stiff wind, requiring either air brake or slight down elevator.

Cool. I fly at sea level, so the OS 120 would probably be a good engine for this plane.

johnyh - its the plane ... she will float forever. Again it might be the tank position, in the stock position when the fuel is down to like 30% she starts to get tail heavy. I fly with the YS110 and I love the APC 16x6.

Don't get "us" wrong we love the plane and think for the money that it's excellent build, finish and generally a great plane to fly. But due to certain field constraints we have to leave it in the hanger if the wind is excessive as the landings become extremely difficult and demanding.
