Hangar 9 - Extra 260 - Stock Landing Gear Delamination
Lets find out how many are having problems with the stock CF landing gear delaminating ( not paint cracking ) on Hangar 9 Extra 260.
Post only if you have done 10 landings or more for no problem! For those with delaminations.....

I have the H9 33% edge and the gear has delaminated bad on that one. I have called Horizon and they told me that it was my problem. I have never seen Cf gear delaminate like this. I have about 20 flights on it.

My H9 260 went about 25 landings on grass before another pilot, flying a 260 notice de-lamination on my starboard side C/F gear, his lasted less than 15 flights. These are not isolated instances, therfore Hanger 9 should make good on there product.

RE: Hangar 9 - Extra 260 - Stock Landing Gear Delamination
I do not have a Hanger 9 260, and do not currently have a Hanger 9 plane, but I have had three sets of Carbon Fiber landing gear on 4 to 5 pound 40 size planes. ALL THREE delaminated after 10 to 15 landings on grass. I have since stopped buying CF gear completely. Since I have had this problem, and considering the price paid, I will not buy CF gear anymore. I know its lighter thank fiberglass filled gear, but they flex nicely with a hard landing and just keep coming back for more. If weight is an issue for you( isn't weight always an issue?) I have successfully drilled lightening holes in Crazy Legs gear and had many HARD landings and it just takes them in stride. I drill (Hole saw) holds progressively smaller toward the top leaving 3/8!QUOT! between the hole and the outside edges on the gear and 1/2!QUOT! between holes. You end up just about the same weight as CF, a little extra spring in the gear, and they just keep ticking without trouble. Just my $0.02

no problem here. just take a little thin ca and run it through it till it comes out the other side and it will be good as new or better. that's what will happen to mine if it happens but i plan on landing smooth.

I tried that. I got 3 more flights on the gear before it delaminated again. I went to the H9 aluminum gear for the 1/3 cap for now. It's heavier but it has held up alot better than the crap edge gear. I plan on ordering the Graphtech gear in the near future.

mine started after about 20 flights, then I tried to sand the paint off. once you take the paint off you KNOW WHY THEY PAINTED it.
Think there was more filler and paint on it than there was carbon. got about 40 flights on the ally gear, and it is starting to flatten out a bit.
Besides the crap CF gear, the rudder counter balance falling off, throttle servo tray coming loose, blah blah blah, i love this plane.
