I got a dumb question about servos.
Where should I use two futaba S3010 (nylon gears 90oz torq @ 6v) or trede them for hitec's 645MG (133oz torq @6v)for elevators and ailerons and the use one hitec 705 for rudder. where the lesser the torq servos should go and where the higher torq servos should go!
thanks guys!

If you are going to set this bird up with 3D thows (35° to 50°) the servo's will see a large mechanical disadvantage. Even though your torque might be OK I would opt for a stronger gear train. It does not take much bumping of that control surface on the ground to damage the gear train, setting yourself up for a bad experience in the air.[X(]

Yeah go metal gear or you will have problems IMO. Try 5945's or less expensive and slower 5645's. The 5925's are VERY fast and would be ideal.

I would personally NEVER put a nylon gear servos on bigger aircrafts 65" or larger... too much risk.

Well, not quite anything with Karbonite gears--Skip the X475's on this plane. Even H.T. does not recommend them for anything over 8 pounds.

Why not 5 of the 5625's? You can get them to your door from Servo City for $46.75ea right now.

How about this, JR 125 mg SPORT. I have mine on my showtime. They are CHEAPER, FASTER and MORE POWERFUL than the HS 645... can't beat that

It's JR SPORT. My LHS has them if you want you can give him a call and he'll mail it to you.

The Hangar (George Knapple)... a really good guy
(316) 941 4540

(you know you're in trouble when you have memorized your LHS' number by heart

Sure. The 5625 is plenty at 6v for rudder on this plane. If you have any doubts get the 5645 for the rudder---same price.

How about this, JR 125 mg SPORT
--- Looks like JR is doing something right. 5 of these with a pack of Dubro HD servo arms would do nicely on this bird.--the servo arms that come standard with these servos are very wimpy

"What if you need a standard sized metal-geared servo? Well then the ST125MG is right for you, as the ST denotes a standard size case, MG denotes that it has metal gears, and the 125 refers to 125 oz/in of torque @ 4.8volts. All eight JR SPORT servos feature universal connectors that will plug into major brand receivers and they still feature JR’s industry leading 3-Year warranty"

http://www.jrradios.com/Articles/Art...97&tag=hwn2008

My LHS (Portland) has these in stock--they are $33.99 ea Have to believe JR is setting the price on these as this shop has Sky high prices on everything else.

I still think the 5625/5645 @ $47.00 to your door is a bit better value.

One hitec 5645 for rudder

Now...the story is "no worries" will be couple of weeks, when on Friday, they were getting enough to fill back orders this week????? I'M CONFUSED...OH WELL GUESS ALL GOOD THINGS ARE WORTH THE WAIT...

ARE THEY STILL IN CHINA... CUSTOMS CANNOT TAKE 4 WEEKS !!!! IMO...maybe it can, never traveled in a container..guess would not be a good idea if takes 4 weeks to get checked in....

So I don't misquote:

Brian,
We still do not have them in stock so it will not ship this week. So no worries. It should be about another 2 weeks.

Thanks,
OMP

the zdz 40 sounds like overkill to me, im going to try and keep mine light, with the evo26

why did you decide on a quater scale for the rudder? not puttin you on the spot or anything, just wondering.

What are you going to use for exhaust on the 1.6?

Default RE: Ultra R/C Giles 202 UL 29%

I have to say that this plane is one that I have had my eye on for a few weeks now. I am thinking this will be a great project thiswinter as fall is comming quickly to ND. I am going to wait for them to be in stock before I order though, so that someone that wants to get one in the air this year will get one first, plus as this hobby has taught me before, dont buy the latest and greatest till you are ready for it, cause you might want something else buy then (I dont expect that to happen with this plane however).
Anywho, I have been following this thread closely and I just have to say to anyone considering a gasoline engine should be cautioned: The designers of this plane have appeared to do a wonderful job creating the extreme lightweight structure that flys well. That said, anything that adds even a few ounces more to the plane will start to diminish the amazing perfomance that is evident in the video. If you desire a plane that flys as well as you have seen so far, the only thing that will achieve this is to be as light as possible. That said, what the plane is capable of doing with a 1.6 2C is awesome. to add extra weight with heavier than nessacery servos, high capacity batteries, and heavy engines would be a sin.
I personally would do whatever I could to to make this plane under 11 lbs. Servos that weigh less than 2 oz. each, (maybe 2.2 oz for the rudder) a micro servo for the thottle, a battery that is Nimh in the 1000-1200 mAh range would be ideal. Every Ounce counts! I would even be interested in trying a moki 1.35 and shooting for at or under 10 lbs. O.K., i'm off the soapbox. I hope you guys start getting them soon, and I hope to hear favorably of the quality.
thanks,
