Hi,

Since I started assembling the Showtime, I had to fix some warp found on ailerons and stabiliser, it took me a while to do that since I want the plane to fly well. Today I noticed that the rudder on the right side is thicker from the other. I just placed the hinges where marked, but I never thought that such an assymetry would exist. Have a look at the photo please.

I really like the design and I believe it flies well. However, if these were not fixed I think it wouldn't fly as intended giving the impression that something is wrong with the design.

I think Hangar 9 must improve its quality control even there's some price penalty. Personally I'm intended to pay more for something that is correct from many perspectives rather than spending my time to fix something cheaper.There are ARF companies in the market who inspect their ARFs going personally to the Chinese factories and in the case they find faulty products the return them back or they interrupt their co-operation. I believe H9 should do the same and have a long term vision rather than looking the short term effects of low cost production.

Anyway how should I fix this assymetry now? Any recommendations please?

I think the best way to fix the rudder offset is to cut the CA hinges and slice them out with a hobby knife then open up the slots and epoxy in some pinned hinges from Great Planes or DuBro. Usually if you use the pinned hinges at first there is enough room to make this adjustment.

I agree, I wish there was better quality control. However, mine seemed to line up fine. But I did use the pinned hinges the first time. All in all I felt the quality on this plane was excellent. Some of the best quality I've seen.

My plane has been a real sweetheart, right from the beginning.

I had the same problems, after fixing what I could I put the computer radio to work. Flys better but is not the best plane I have ever flown. It is howerver the only glow plane that I have that is running at the time, so technicly speaking it is the best glow plane I am currently flying.

You are correct. For tighter flips flaperon is needed. As I was having trouble with HAOA I used spoileron, but when doing a waterfall flaperon should be used, although, spoileron has improved mine. I will add a flip mode to my radio and try it out. I figure that I have about 50 more flights till it is completly trimmed out.

Maidened mine today. Awesome plane. Much more fun than my Funtana 90. Even though my ys is acting up, still had a blast. Flew without the SFG's. Took a radio hit and couldn't get the nerve to put her back up & try them out. Maybe tomorrow. Got 2 good flights in though. Knife edge flight is amazing. Fast or slow. Barely pulls to the gear. Locked into harrier very easily with absolutely no wing rock. You guys were right about HR ailerons. Blinding. And I could only get 38 degrees on high rates. In fact I couldn't get the recommended throws on any surface for high rates. I guess I'll have to screw the control horns in some. I don't think a couple of turns will hurt the mechanical advantage that much. Flew WOT passes with no signs of flutter at all. 17x4w prop. I need to move the cg back. I'm a little nose heavy. Blenders are great, but wouldn't quite flatten out all the way. Didn't try TR or hover. Worried about the engine cutting out still. Didn't try Rolling harriers either. Have to do that tomorrow as well. Couldn't get knife edge spins to lock in. I think that's due to needing full HR deflection on the elevator and cg back though. Waterfalls are great, but could be even better with more elevator. Lot's of other stuff to try. I'll give another report tomorrow hopefully.

Bottom line, I love this plane!!!

Ya, it is funny.....now my Mayhem is my knock around plane, if I can keep my .91 idling. You are also right about which one is prettier, they both turned out real nice.

Got three more 15 min flights in today, now I am at 23% spoileron and this (for me) seems to be just about right. Slow knife edge circles and some good harrier action, but still cannot do a 180 in a harrier with the rudder (It will snap if too much rudder)

The YS 1.20 is a good match for the plane at my altitude good power a real crowd pleaser (no muffler or header pipe, open at the head) (long story).

It is flying better, as time goes on. I am getting more "stick time" and trimming with each flight. I only have about 47 more flights and it should be trimmed out.

I set my radio for three flight modes. 1- moderate 3-D, take off and landing, harriers. 2- higher rates same expo for the wall and rolling circle and rolling harrier, elevator. 3-Flip and Hover mode, good for Waterfall, blender and flat spins, full deflection less expo( cannot recover in this mode). I did not have time to program and try flaperons in this outing. I will program this week and try out next time.

Well I just read all 34 pages and I now have a ST4D with a saito 100,MPI glow, futaba 9350's accept for throttle. Right now I 'm using a 15x6 but I think a 16x4W will be better after the engine gets another 1/2 gallon through it.

I've only flown mine 4 times (with the SFG's) but I am very impressed with everything. I was doing elevators on my last flight that were just simply awesome with no wing rock. KE's, HA KE, KE circles, and death slides seem so simple with this plane. I cant wait to fly it some more.


BTW I traded my 27% Patty wagstaff for it. I got the ST and some cash. This plane better suits me than the Patty did, plus my buddy just had to have my Patty.

ALso has anyone found a good wing bag for this plane? Wing tote brand would be a little large.

Hi, have a YS110 in my Adrenaline and would love to put one in a showtime I am getting, cannot afford 2 YS's, I do have a spare G2300 and wonder if this will do the trick for the Showtime? any advise most welcome.

I have modified the tail wheel with a small piece of aluminum stock and it works Great!

Do the springs still put a load on the servo?

No this method seems very easy on the servo. Although I am using a JR 8611A (200+ oz torque) I felt more response and quicker movement.

Guys ... need some help ... I just got my Show Time, its a lovely plane but the wood kinda sucks, still who cares, it does its job more than well enough I am sure. I am going to install my YS110 on her and just want to know if this plane on the YS110 and pull-pull will come out nose heavy or tail heavy or just right. Thanks a lot!!!

Mine came out fine. With a prop hub, tank in front of wing tube, receiver under wing tube, and battery beside the tank it balanced dead on recommended cg. When I put an aluminum spinner on, I had to mount the battery pack behind the former where the turtle deck starts.

Oh, and I have an hs-81 for throttle mounted where the tank would have been.

Tianci, don't forget the differences in weather, the 110 may not be enough over here.

I'm using the 110 on mine. I used the Pull/Pull and was able to balance fine. My balance is at 7 3/8" with the battery about on the wing tube. You can see a picture of mine on page 18 post 448. I can move my battery back considerably if I need to.

I'm using a light prop hub and no spinner so mine may be lighter on the nose than some. But I think most are finding the pull/pull is the way to set it up with the 110 engine.

Anyone found carbon fiber gear for this plane? The stock seems heavy, but tough. I have already put 3" foam wheels on mine. I'll probably put an HS 81 for throttle. Just looking for ways to lighten the airframe.

Hey guys ... thanks for the response!!! I will go pull-pull and I always have my battery tied to the tube. One of my pals had a YS140 on his F90 ... he had to put the batt behind at the turtle deck, so he built a simple balsa platform. He flies the plane like a mad man, snap rolls are like a blink of an eye ... well the batt came off and the F90 met terra firma!!!

MF - at 9-10 lbs the YS110 has enough power for me. YS110, 30% Cool Power Heli and APC 16x6 ... perfect for a plane that is <10lbs.

The gear that comes with it IS carbon fiber. Mine was light.
