My take on the dead spot at low speed is not from the sfg but from the barn door Aileron which when defelected at low speed take away or mess the air flow over the elevator.

I fly mine with a moki 1.35 and go verticle on take off and don't get in that position. Then when landing I turn while losing altitude at the same time to keep speed up that way there is air flow over the tail.

PLus don't deflect Ailerons alot at low speeds.

Hope this will help

Rich

Ok...i've read through.....

someone bottom line it...
Looking for an IMAC/pattern practice plane that I can have fun with....
I already have a Profile Katana for serious silly 3D

Showtime with Saito 100 ok for this??
I know it won't be a rocket, but would it be fun....

I already own the Saito 100 so there is NO OTHER option for the motor... if the motor doesn't work, I get another plane.....

Thanks

Exeter - a few pages back someone flew theirs on the SA100 ... he was not a happy bunny for sure! But again, thrust/performance is a relative thing. Another plane? Try the Fliton Extra 330 then.

I currently fly my ST with a Saito 100. It is a great flier with this combo.....if you plan on flying IMAC routines with it...it's perfect....if you want the punchout power for hovers...it's not there. I fly a little of both, and I enjoy it. If you poing the nose up, it will climb quite a while before giving into gravity, but mine came in a little beefy also. Not sure why, possible a early production plane. I'm not a hovering freak, but like to do the occasional blender, harrier, etc etc etc mixed in with 4 points and all the basic aerobatic manuvers. Get it, with the Saito 1.00, it is a great flying plane.

ITS SO FRUSTRATING!!! I'VE BEEN OUT 3 TIMES W/ST, HAVE ABOUT 20 FLIGHTS, AND STILL ONLY 2 FLIGHTS WITH POWER ON LANDING.(MOKI 135) I CAN AT LEAST SAY THE ST PENETRATES ON DEADSTICK SIMILIAR TO A PATTERN PLANE, BUT NOT AS MUCH SPEED. ITS FRUSTRATING BECAUSE I HAD IT RUNNING LONG ENOUGH(& HIGH ENOUGH) TO FIND OUT IT HARRIERS WELL, NOT MUCH AILERON NEEDED,HOVERS WELL(ADDED MORE RIGHT THRUST) AND TRACKS BEAUTIFUL POINT ROLLS,FLAT SPINS ARE FLAT.
LOOKS LIKE A COMPLETE 3-D(I HAVENT FIGURED OUT WHAT 4-D IS YET)MACHINE, BETTER THAN THE EF YAK. I JUST NEED TO GET THE MOKI STRAIGHT TO BUILD CONFIDENCE. I STILL HAVE NOT EXPERIENCED THAT PROBLEM SINKING ON TAKE OFF, I USED TO LIKE DOING POINT ROLLS ON TAKE OFF WITH OTHER PLANES BUT AFTER READING THIS PAGE I WILL HOLD OFF ON THAT UNTIL I KNOW MORE ABOUT THAT PROBLEM. IVE DONE 4 POINTS HIGH WITH IT, DIDNT NOTICE ANYTHING THERE, MY SPEED WAS PRETTY HIGH COMPARED TO TAKE OFF THOUGH. I DID NOTICE A CHANGE IN FLIGHT CHARACTERISTICS AFTER INCREASING PITCH OF THE PROP, I WENT FROM A 17X5 ZINGER TO 17X6 TOPFLITE, THE ST WAS FLYING WITH A NOSE UP ATTITUDE BEFORE THAT. LIKE IT WAS TAIL HEAVY BUT IT IS ON STOCK CG. THAT WAS A LITTLE ODD, NEVER HAD A PLANE DO THAT.

alot of people including me. think it has a tail heavy feel at stock CG. I even saw on the competitons forum were Kyle said it felt that way to him too..

If you jump over to the Pattern forum there is a thread on the showtime
for pattern flying with some setup tips from some very knowledgeable pattern
fliers.

Saw this SHOWTIME the other day at our local club.
Juding from what I saw... I can easily say that the engine to go with is the SuperTigre 2300
Man that engine gave this plane some power

Does anyone know the diameter of the Showtime wingtube? I have one on order, but I want to get an carbon fiber tube. I can get metric or inch tubes, so if it doesn't measure evenly on one scale, please try the other.

Thanks.

Jon,

Let me know if you find a carbon fiber wingtube.

I can't seem to find one that is the correct size.

It would need to be 1 and 1/16" or 26.9?mm (so call it 27 mm).

As good as this plane is, this is one of the things that could be done to improve it.

I also think that the SFG's should be molded from carbon fiber also.
Heck it would be nice if the plane were ALL composite and 2X2 meter in size.
Oh well, I guess I can dream.

I personally think this is one of the BEST ARF's I have ever seen.
It also flies best with the SFG's, IMO.

Hey Guys,
SPUD here-got my first 2 flights in today. Winds were across the field at about 15 mph. So just out to get a feel for the plane. No trim needed, but then again to get it set just right I'll have to wait for a calmer day. Sat there and messed with the engine, didn't refuel, so the first landing was dead sticked. This thing lands as smooth as the UCD's. Rock steady all the way down. No tip stall tedances on mine at all. Second flight landed with power and it was great. Being larger it was easy to see all of its moves, this is a fun plane to watch fly. Did some rolls, up & inv spins. With my snaps I need to dial the ail down a smidge on low rates to clean them up a bit. This is going to be one of my favorites.

My set up is:
OS 120 4C
Hitec 635's on ail & ele
Hitec 625 on rud
Fut 3004 on thr
CG 7 3/8"
rud servo in tail
3" main wheels
Fut 9cap
Stock on everything else.

Well thats it till Sunday.

SPUDs out.............see ya.

Spud...Congratulations on getting that bird in the air!!! I find this plane to land very good, even in the wind. Not at all like my Funtana was. Great flying airplane. Hope you like yours as much as I do mine.
Thanks

Another heads up...

On my Showtime the fuel tank comes in contect with the upper right
motor mount bolt. this could lead to a hole rubbed in the tank if it
goes unnoticed.
