Great planes ultimate 160
#53

Well, the other combo would be with a Brison 2.4. Or the FPE 2.4. Pricewise very close deals. I don't know yet which way to go. I kinda like that new Fuji 43 from the looks of it. It gives me a good impression. I also like the idea of three supporting ball bearings. And if I should run into problems, I have only the best experience with Hobby Services. Looks like I already made up my mind, doesn't it?

Well, I've gone and done it. I have the Fuji sitting in next to me right now and the plane is over at the LHS ready for me to come and get it.
My planned setup is this
Fuji 43
Hitech 5945's on the rudder and elevators
Hitech 5645's on the ailerons
Fromeco super regulated switches for both the receiver and ignition
Receiver batt is the Fromeco 4800 LiIon
Ignition batt is the Fromeco 24 LiIon
It will be close to 2 weeks before I can start on it.

Be sure to let us know how that Fugi performs. I got my Ultimate finished last night dry weight 13 pounds 12ounces. I was hoping it would be a little lighter but that BGX is a real porker not but a couple oz lighter than a good 50cc so I might wait until I have the cash for a gasser to fly it. you can't ever tell with me though I might fly her the way she is to make sure I want to sink more cash into it.

I too am thinking about getting this one. Have a BME 44 that has never been used and I am tired of staring at it! Still waiting to hear flight reports prior to making a decision.

I have 7 new Hitec 945's to go in my Ultimate...caught a good deal on them at Servo City..20% off the regular price. I know the 925's are just a froghair faster, but what the heck, the 945's are stronger. I think I will wait to decide on a engine untill you try your Fuji. If the plane does come out at around 13 lbs, then the Fuji should be perfect for it.
Does anybody know if a video has been made of the plane? I'm chomping at the bits to start on mine, but just don't have the time yet.

I looked at that video several times, and here's what I learned
There are roughly on 2 cut that tells us anything about its 3D performance
Harrier: Looks pretty good with minimal / no wing rock. However, I was expecting a slower harrier speed for an airplane with such a low advertised wingloading. That one flew its harrier like it weighs 17 lbs, or a wing area of only 1300.
KE: There were 2 KE fly by and it seems to have enough rudder authority (by looking at the deflection). However, on the second pass, the plane was wobbling a bit. Is this a sign of coupling, or poor thumbs?
.
IMHO, Hovers are useless, because any plane with a CG aft enough will hover ok. Harriers, KEs and Waterfalls and Spins is where it is at. When I try to decide whether the video is good because the plane itself is good (or excellent piloting), I look at these aspects. Good signs are slow harriers, true tracking, solid KE, and tight waterfall and spins. If you're into precision also, then you need to look at how the plane snaps.
For those reasons, even though Chris Meiers is good, I know that the UltraRC Giles 202 is a good plane (sorry for digressing a bit there

Extra, what is your rc setup? Do you think you have room for lightening without changing the engine? it seems it can be about 14 oz lighter with os160 and it becomes around 12lb 14oz.

Well I don't see much that could be done to lighten this thing. I guess I could loose the wheel pants and get a carbon spinner. I am still very happy with it. If you compare it to Wild Hare RC and Aeroworks/World Models it is bigger and a couple pounds lighter than their Ultimates that they are reccomending a DA 50 for. My setup would probobly still be right at or just over 14 pounds with a DA 50 without doing anything to cut weight. My problem is my motor I figured it up last night and the BGX with radial mount, Bisson pitts muffler and perry VP-30 weighs in at almost 60 ounces that is 3 3/4 pounds. I can see a gasser in my future

Extra, with the BGX being that heavy, then I do not feel too awfly bad about the Fuji being 3.5 pounds where the DA50 is 3.25 pounds and putting out about .5hp more than the Fuji. HHMM
I'm still going to do the Fuji, I bought it so I'm stuck with it.
It's supposed to rain here from today all the way through monday so I might just get started on it this weekend.

Please. bubbagates,
get started, I'm dying to read your experience with the Fuji. I have made up my mind about the Ultimate. It's going to be the GP U 160 from tower. But I haven't made up my mind yet about the engine I'm going to put in. It's either a FPE2.4, a Brison 2.4 or the Fuji. Most likely I'm going to end up with the Fuji. So please, help me to make up my mind. I have time, I don't need to buy the motor tomorrow. I hope you have nothing but good luck with the Fuji.

If the weather holds up I am gonna try and fly it tommorow. Aerobob the weight info on the website seems to be inline with what the finished weight will be with an OS 160. I would say that would be dry weight they are advertisind though.

EXTRA - Thanks! Hard to believe, I guess, but another friend is doing his right now and sez the same thing.... quote "GP did their homework on this one!" unquote. Hope so!!
Let us know about the maiden.
This is the FIRST "good looking" (to me) Ultimate that was in a size I wanted. Also the reason I've not had an Ultimate since CG intro-ed the original that we had to BUILD and COVER!!!!!!!!!!!! (Imagine THAT today!)
So no responses about a Gasser user yet? No gasser flight reports????

I plan on putting a gasser on this thing as soon as my wallet will let me. I think a Brisson 2.4 would make for a very good combo as I think the OS 160 would fly it but be anemic at best. Yes this thing is gorgeous not to mention huge! I am hoping the 1 5645 mg I have on the rudder will be enough I will be running it @ 6 volts but that is one huge rudder!

Good luck with the maiden - also - Kangke has the Brison 2.4 on "special" right now for $399, and it INCLUDES the synchro spark auto-advance (no mechanical advance mechanics anymore!)...Maybe you could do what I did - turn the OS 1.60 and Bisson into a Brison.... I had to eat a little, but I think it was a good choice.
Particularly since I won't be "sliming up" that beautiful airplane with oil residue!!!

Maybe it's just me, but something keeps telling me to go with a Brison 3.2 on my Ultimate....the 5645 should be "a-plenty" on the rudder. I have a Texas Hurricane with a Brison 3.2 that weighs 14 3/4 lbs. and am running a 645 on the rudder and it's "huge also" and have had no problems at all.
I went down to Triple Tree Aerodrome today and watched the "Jet Rally"...and I thought I had a lot of money in my planes!!!! HA!!!!![sm=greedy.gif][sm=greedy.gif][sm=greedy.gif]

Hi Guys,
I am thinking about getting this plane and had a few questions if you would indulge me.
Was wanting to use a ZDZ 40(full up wt 3.15 lb. Opinions?
How is the hardware .Quality or Junk?
Overall build-good, tedius,mods necessary,glued well?
Reccommendations on servo req for 3d?
Price paid_better than $399?
Thanks
Keary
