Does anyone know of a manufacturer that produces an EDGE 540 kit around 70"-80"? Or something capable of 3-D maneuvers with an OS 1.60. I'm not looking for an ARF, I want to build it.

I know that there is a Hanger 9 Edge 540.......but I think they might not be making any more of them. If you can find one, its a great flying airplane, with large surfaces and no bad habits. However, this is an ARF.

aeroworks has a great 25% comes in at about 10.5 lbs with a saito 180 or YS140. Another company that has an edge kit is DL Designs. These are the only ones that I know of.

I know someone who has an Airwild Edge 540 for sale. It's well broken in with many flights but he isn't asking alot for it. He has an OS 1.60 on it even. It's located in Indiana so feel free to email me if interested. The Airwild isn't produced any longer.
I also have a short kit for a D&L Edge 540 with an 80" wingspan I'm getting ready to start. They still sell that one.
Aeroworks sells the 29% Edge with an 82" wingspan they sell as well. Not sure if it will 3D with an OS1.6 tho.

Thanks a bunch guys, that was quick too... The DL DESIGNS short kit looks promising, but I'd really like to eat beans for a while and get the 29% aeroworks. The only problem is: my wife hates beans.

I have a 73" wingspan Edge 540 ARF that is made by Lanier .
We weighed it with the servos and engine (3W 24) on and it came up to a about 12.5 pounds . It is suprisingly still a little tail heavy but it is a very nice ARF with Fiberglass painted cowl and wheel pants . I't will be ready by this weekend and i plan on flying it Saturday so I will tell you how it flies .

I saw one go 6' deep this past weekend. The pilot used the plastic clevises that came with the kit and the clevises parted. His engine was a Saito 1.80. I recommended you beef it up with Dubro 4-40 Balllinks.

Choosing a 3W over a Glow Fuel engine was simple .
The first reason was that even with the 3W on the nose the plane was still slightly tail heavy , with a 160 it would be even more tail heavy , since the nose would be lighter . Another reason for choosing the 3W is that I usually burn about a gallon or more of glow fuel in one days flying, and it gets expensive , we checked all the statistics and the O.S 160 does have slightly better performance but we also had two 3W 24's sitting around .
I forgot to mention that my 3W 24 has a pifa tuned pipe on it.
Maybe to much work just for an ARF having to worry about cooling baffles etc. , however the tuned pipe weighs almost exactly the same as the Pitts style . The tuned pipe is also supposed to generate more power . Thats basically it ,plus it helps balance out the plane.
