So, one of these:

Go with the first one if your field is rough or stay with original if field is smooth or paved. Here its rough with a few crevasses that took off my tail wheel on a GP Stearman, so most of my planes get this mod. You will have to make a ply plate for bottom opening, but this makes it easy to epoxy the horiz stab and to install the pull-pull wires.
Also one of these:

Get option2. The average person just can't build one from scratch for that price and do all the work Brillelli puts into it. The service from Brillelli is first class. Scott just modified my 46 a few weeks ago for free, 'cause asked him, !QUOT!wear to put the pressure smoke port.!QUOT! He said it should of had one, returned it and several modifications were done, what a class company. I missed out on the Bowman ring, darn. Also get the rear dump muffler, side or rear your choice. He has a lighter rear dump muffler coming, not sure the cost or if its free with purchase.
This is my second gasser (GP Stearman w/33 Homey, first) and at $2 a gal vs $12 to $18 for glow, with flight times up 1/2hr on 16oz. of gas, whats not to like. Go gas you'll never turn back.
Also smoke system for $11 less tank:

The CG is conservative as Uncas said, and I may end up with no lead up front after testing with 5oz. My Yak was purchased a few months ago and like a few post back the wood or styrofoam my be a little heavier than the older lots.

What kind of switches are you all using? MPI? Cermark?

He found some good light black rubbery foam to wrap them in also.

I have bought the same setup just not built yet. This is my buddy's setup. His screen name is charlesdanni on here. This plane is sweet with the DA-50. Just now going into it's 4th gallon of gas and it hovers at half throttle with ease!
Here is some pics he passed on to me of the ignition and front area

Thanks Taz, that will really help out. I see your buddy ditched the cowl ring mounting system. The ignition gets in the way of the left side blind nut, it would need to be moved. Are you going to put the muffler support bracket on? I couldn't figure out how it mounted until I saw a pic, the one end goes under one of the cylinder bolts...... I questioned if you need to replace the bolt w/a longer one? I was fiddling w/ the cowl last nite, there's a bunch of cyl/muffler sticking out.... I'm guessing the whole bottom of the cowl is going to be cut out?

Taz,
Thanks for the pics ... It looks really good. I think I'm also going to get the DA-50 for my new Yak 54.
Are those 3 inch stand-offs, and the Slimline SLI-2123 muffler?

Does anyone know where to get a wing tube[X(]
I was coming in low inverted when I got "glitched" and ended up doing a knife edge plow on the field...somehow I managed to save it. The right wingtip hit the ground in a full knife edge, sheared off the wingtip and aileron counter balance, and snapped the aileron control horn...I somehow managed to not wreck it, limped it around and landed with that big heavy fat aileron drooping!!
Anyways, I fixed the wing (actually a really easy fix) but then noticed the wing wouldn't line up right....the wing tube is bent! I also somehow bent the tube during all of that! Surprisingly, it didn't damage the fuse or wing any further!
Long story short....now I need a wing tube! Since GP doesn't sell them...any ideas on an aftermarket one? Has anyone bought one yet? If so, please advise!

Might need to be my next plane then
I've got tthe GP Gene Soucy Extra 1.60 with an OS 1.60 FX. FLies great, but not a 3D monster. The YAK seems to be a much better 3D plane.

Here is my Yak 54 with the new CAR 55, a really great Brazilian engine, 5.5 hp of pure brute power. Well.......the OS 160 didn´t did the job!
Now I have the right engine for the right plane.

I saw where I could get them from Tower, however some people do not put these on and I would rather put the green in their pocket, not the evil empires!
They are more like spats, not realy typical wheel pants.
