Nice! You're using a 20x8? Try a 22x8, you will still get slower approaches and you'll have 2" more diameter to help w/ the vertical. If your Moki is the same as mine, I prefer a 22x8 over a 20x10. You might like it.

RE: NEW Hanger9 27% Cap 232G!!!! Build Thread!!!
I just saw one of these at the LHS. They look very nice.
Its got me thinking. I,ve got a MVVS/Evolution 45, pitts muffler & 3-1/4" spinner that I,m looking to sell. Maybe I,ll just get one of these and use what I,ve got instead of selling everything.
They appear to have a decent amount of wing area to support a 15lb plane and still keep the wing loading light.
Can anyone tell me that has flown one with the Evolution engine did it perform well?
thx Dave

RE: NEW Hanger9 27% Cap 232G!!!! Build Thread!!!
Hey Dave,
I have been flying the Cap 232g for almost 10 months. It flys great, and a very study plane. I did change the tail wheel to a TBM ($26) from Troybuild models. The stock aluminum landing gear is weak and I will be replacing it with a Gaftech($50). Hangar 9 models are very good quality with only a couple of weak parts.

RE: NEW Hanger9 27% Cap 232G!!!! Build Thread!!!
Thanks guys,
I,ve got 2 interested RCU members in the motor, so if they fall through I,m going to get one of these planes and put the 45 in it.
I couldn,t believe I,ve even got the right size spinner for it already.
I also found the review on the other site it all looks good.
One question though, when mounting the rudder servo it would appear best to go with a pull-pull system to help avoid nose weight being added. Is that a correct assumption?
thx Dave

RE: NEW Hanger9 27% Cap 232G!!!! Build Thread!!!
Soon I will have mine.
I have read thru most of the posts. Anybody care to run down there electronics set ups.
I belive I will go the Lipo route and I also think I read the the EVO ignition can handle the 7.4 volts without a regulator?
Where is the best place to get a GEM 2000?
Thanks for the help. I am looking forward to making the step to gas.
I also really want to set it up for smoke from the get go. Any suggestions there would be appreciated.
Thanks
Kirt

They have all the colors and voltages. They work great, I use red for the rec bat and green for the ign (7.4 lipo). They are also nice people. I highly recommend.

I am using a blue led for the ign and the camera caught the led when it flashed, I don't have a pic of the red led when it flashes.

RE: NEW Hanger9 27% Cap 232G!!!! Build Thread!!!
I've had this Cap for about a year and a half and am just getting ready to put it together. I have a CRRC-pro GF 45i and will swing a 22-8 prop.
I haven't flown anything in the past year and a half because of a motorcycle accident. Before the accident, I was just starting to ring out a Showtime 4D pretty good. I was also flying an Harrier and I was really wanting to get into gas and electric only.
From what everyone on here said the Cap 232G should be a very good first gasser.
I have a friend that says I should maybe start flying some of my smaller glow stuff, like the Harrier because the Cap 232G will be to fast on landings until I get use to flying again.
I was thinking from what I read on here that the Cap will land about as slow the harrier and if thats the case it should not be much of a problem. What does anyone that has flown the Cap think?
When you say, "This Cap lands slow." What are you comparing the Cap landing to?

The Cap lands slow, a fast walking pace, don't worry about it. I have a Wildhare Edge and an OMP 65" Yak and they both land fairly slow. I had a GP Christen Eagle, now that landed fast.

Thanks Chuck,
I hope to be flying the Cap in the next couple weeks. I also have a GP Super Stearman, 120 I'll be putting a 25cc gas motor in. I'm told that flies very gentle also.
Today I'll be cleaning out my shed where all my RC stuff has been stored for the past year and a half. This should be fun. I'm thinking of selling all my glow stuff as i'm going electric and gas only. (Electric on everything under .60 and gas on everything over .60.)

I just swaped my plane and got the Cap232G. I read somewhere that the trick for not snapping it is to control the elevator. What throws are you using? normal and Dual rate?

Thanks tailskid.
I flew my plane today. Very windy! 20-25mph winds 90º from runway. I tried 3 different props on my Moki 180 with bison muffler.
APC 18x10 - 8,100 rpm.
evolution 19x8 - 7350 rpm.
Pro zinger 20x6 - 8200 rpm.
Eventhough the evo had lower rpm it felt better. Only flew it with the evo. What could I expect from the other props in the air? Is the evo the better of the 3?

RE: NEW Hanger9 27% Cap 232G!!!! Build Thread!!!
Hi folks, here's my setup: HP645 MG Servos all throughout the plane (except throttle), Brison 3.2 gas engine in nosel Running on 2.4 ghz. On takeoff, it acted VERY tail heavy, but once I got it up in some altitude, a few clicks of down and it flies straight and level hands off. I flew her around a few circuits and handled VERY well. I was getting a little confident and tried some axel rolls. I did not get rough with her at all. For a maiden, I still sense that we may be a little tail heavy, even though we've achieved level and straight flight characteristics, I fear landing will be difficult. I begin my descent and upon final approach, the plane tip stalled just a hair and the wing tip touched the runway on landing. No damage at all, but seems like this plane will need to be powered in. I could not get it to "float". Again, I think this is because it's a little tail heavy???
Taxied back to the pits and inspection of the plane finds the wings about to come off. Took off the canopy (which lost one canopy screw in flight), and the plastic pieces to the wing nuts are gone. Just gone. Where did they go, and how did they go there? Break in half? Fall off the all thread bolt? The wings were tight (finger tight) when I put it together. I'm so lucky that the wing did not come out far enough to teeter totter on the metal tube. I put the plane up for the day. Inside inspection shows the fuel tank is leaking. I have yet to search the fuse for those plastic pieces, but not just one, but both were missing from the wing bolts.
Has this happened to anyone? And if so, has Hangar 9 a solution to the problem?

On my Cap I found one of the plastic thumb nuts for the wing attachment had cracked. However, this was after a crash and I dismissed it as damage from the crash. I machined a couple out of aluminum and that was that. I now wonder if it had just cracked on its' own?

Anyone else have these issues? Anyone got a picture of their wings bolted on with the canopy off looking inside the fuse?

Its 350$ and people are flying it hard with 45 -50c gassers. You will need to do additional care and maintenance,as well as pre flight and post flight checks continually.Dont flame H9 if it rattles apart with a big gasser.

Good question
Seems people are treating these planes like .60 aircraft and wondering why there is so much upkeep and maintenance and issues with handling and overall performance.
Its like modifying a car, every change will need thought down the road to compliment the changes made from original plans.

You can call Horizon and they will send you a complete set of wing bolts and nuts plus the safety pins at no charge. After a year and a half of flying the H9 Cap232g, I have not had to use any of the spare nuts or bolts. This is a well built plane and it has a great price. I have a couple of Aeroworks 30% planes and they cost a lot more.

RE: NEW Hanger9 27% Cap 232G!!!! Build Thread!!!
Well I finished my Cap 232G build over the winter and I''m going to fire the new DA-50 engine this week. The weather has not been the best and spring is taking its time getting here this year.
twistr
How is the performance with the Brison 3.2. I really like the Brison 3.2 engines and I have a new 3.2 and I almost put it in this plane before buying the DA-50.
