Default OMP Proyak Servos

Hi Gang,

What all are you using for servos on this model? I'm just about ready to install my servos and I'm wondering if standard servos will be good enough.

Thanks
Mitch

When I bought my Extreme flight Yak 55 profle I used standard servos all around. It flew okay but you could really tell it needed something better. if you look around on ebay you can find great deals on the Spektrum DS-821 digital servo. They are a great bargain and they work amazing. They put out about 87 oz/in of torque with 6V and they are much more precise. My Yak is the same size category as the proyak and I think you wold be much happier with the performance of the aircraft with some decent high torque digital servos.

Went with Hitec 311 as per a recommendation from someone who has a proyak.

Def. a high torque servo.....Futaba 3010 or JR821 as mentioned above. There are more expensive but the two I mentioned are a fav. among .40 profile flyers and for good reason. Servos make or break a plane!!

thats not a good servo for 3d flying.... it does make for a go0d 40-60 sport servo though

personally i would have gone with the 485's if i was on a budget, next level would be 5485, the highest i would have gone would be the 821 spektrum

The 311 looks to be a standard servo. I agree, probably not enough torque for the huge control surfaces. What do you think of the HS635s? I've heard good things about the Karbonite gears

yes the 635 would be a great servo! i would consider saving the 311's for you next sport plane...they make good throttle servos to for glow planes of any size too
