Hype 3D or not?

Hi Guys,

I have been reading with much interest all your views on the Hype 3D and West .50 Ti combo. Sounds good to me, but what are the pitfalls to a newcomer?

I am new to this type of flying, usually flying scale, sport and pattern models. I really can't decide what to get, but it will need to be ARTF. Does anyone know about the CZ KABRIOLIN sold at Ali's? If so, how does it compare to the Hype 3D? This seems to have alternative wings for pattern flying.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

By the way, I may be able to borrow an AEROFLY PRO flight sim ..... do you think this will help me along the road to successful 3D flying?

...... waiting with baited breath,

Dave

UKflyer i have the hype3d with the west combo and i totally love this plane...ive only been flying since march/april this year and i can hover it quite easy even though its about 30ft up but im still learning and slowly bringing it lower and lower.....

the west engine is superb never quits and loads of power to pull from the hover....

:) Thanks Miskin, thats encouraging to hear. Are you saying that you only started in RC modelling in March/April?? If so, you have done remarkably well!!

Did the 'kit' come complete including all necessary hardware - The WestonUK site doesn't seem to give details of what's actually in the box!

Also I would be interested in hearing what servos you have installed, especially at the rear end ..... Thanks

Dave

UKflyer.

You don't have to set the controls up for full 3D throws! Try programming all rates to one switch, therefore you can get used to the plane with it set up soft and flick in high rates when the mood takes you!

The Hype is very forgiving and will make a great second plane. it comes with all accessories I use standard 3004 servo's on 6 volts - no problem.

My prophanging confidence is building with this model.

UKflyer the hype comes with a complete hardware pack(tank, horns, closed loop etc)..all you need to add is radio gear and engine..

the servo's im using are basic futaba 148's apart from the elevator which has a futaba S9402 Coreless Servo im also running a 6v batt

and yes i started rc in march/april and love every minute of it

My setup is similar:

ailerons: Futaba S3003
throttle: Futaba S3003 (or whatever You have on hand...)
rudder: GigaLine Torque servo (6 Kg)
elevator: Futaba S9001 coreless

All are running on 6V 1200mAh pack.
I could easily get away with standard servo on rudder
but little stronger on will not do harm.

I am pretty reluctant on tail modifications for dual servos
as Hype is built extremelly light. Cutting rear part of tail
for servos might compromise structural integrity.
I have seen this done with succes but I would (and am...)
avoid it.

As far as airplane is concerned all good for it, especially with
West 50T1 and Genesis pipe combo.
I had problems with it for a while but it was solved easy :)

aerofly pro will help your 3d flying a lot, so buy it!
If you are borrowing it, you will need to make up a lead identical to the IPACS lead, other wise the sim wont work.

i would get a capiche instead though for the time being.
My problem is that all the stuff ive learnt on aerofly pro, i havent got a plane to do it with in real life!

I cant wait to get mine.
