This is just the first prototype. Got it flying last weekend. These are shots from the first and second flights. I am extremely pleased with the design. It really feels locked in in high alpha maneuvers. Hope to have some before Christmas. The YS 110 is a beast. Completely unlimited vertical. Turning an APC 17X6 supersonic on straight and level pass. I believe it would turn a 18x5 or 6 wood prop. Don't want to get in trouble with the moderators so please email me or P.M. me for more info. One more picture-that YS sure does smoke on 30% Heli blend Cool Power.

I am going to install the 3M-140 and pipe into the next one of these I assemble. There is plenty of room inside the fuse for the pipe. The weight of the YS110 and 3M-140 is very close.
I also want to try one with a Hacker B50XL and some Li-polys.

More pics please! What does the top look like? I looked at your website amd saw no pics of the small Yak. If I were to put a Saito in it what size would be best 100,120,150,180?

This is a pic of the 28% Yak.
They look the same.

Saito 1.00 would be my choice of the motors listed.

RE: Anybody know when it's big brother is coming

The 68" Yak is scheduled to be here sooner than late winter.
I saw one this week that was just sent from China for Chris to look at. Its absolutely amazing.
The construction will open your eyes to a new level of ARF.

I have pics and will post in a day or so.

RE: Anybody know when it's big brother is coming

Hi Roger,

I will be home tomorrow.
We flew today in the rain...
Got to fly the new prototype 35% Yak. WOW!!! [sm=sunsmiley.gif]
DA-100 in it.

This plane is in the very beggining of development so it may be a while till Chris has a good handle on when he can expect them.
He is hoping for 6 months from now but hates to commit to anything as far as a delivery so early in the game.

Also flew the Mini3D today. Absolute blast!
We were all doing negative waterfalls from less than 20'
ROCK SOLID!
This little plane has an OS .15 motor on it!

Turning an APC 17X6 supersonic on straight and level pass.
Do you mean literally supersonic, as being above 343 m/s?

The tip speed of 17x6 @ 9400 rpm is 212.5 m/s:

17" x pi x .0254 m/in x 9400 rev/min x 1 min / 60 sec = 212.5 m/s

Or do you just mean it sounds extreme doppler's effect during a hi speed pass?

Regardless, I believe the YS 110 is a monster.

I plan to do the same, if I manage to place an order. What prop do you plan to use for the Saito 100? I did some thrust measurement on this 100:

APC 15x6 @ 9900 30% fuel gives 12.5 lb. of static thrust
I'd imagine with APC 15x4W it would turn 10500, at least 13.5 lb. of static thrust.

What kind of rpm did Chris get w/ the YS 110 on the prototype using APC 17x6? I estimate APC 17x6 @ 9200 gives 14 lb of static thrust, just from flying a 12 lb. plane that displays limited vertical.

Seanychen,

I dont know what prop I'd use just yet..
Experiment with a few I would imagine..

Here is a number for you. Rapala dig. fish scale... saito 100 15-4w apc prop.... 15% wildcat.... rpm 10300.....Static thrust was measured at 10lbs 5oz.

Looks like the thrust calc. is just a bit optimistic

Hope this helps
Al
