expo settins for 3d

im just getting used to flying 3d on my ucd 46 (with saito 91), its a little touchie as for the high rates. what is the normal exponential for high rates? im at about 30% all around i think, although i had no clue what i should be using.

any help would be appreciated/

I would recommend that you use 40% on ailerons and 75% on elevators

Every single airplane is different, every single pilot is different, and every radio setup is different.

You should use whatever you feel the most comfortable with. Just add more and more until you get it where you want it...It just takes some experimenting.

What I do is setup my controls so that at 1/4 stick deflection, I get the same control throw regardless of whether I'm in precision or 3d mode. I just adjust the expo until I get that amount.

The reason for this is it lets me transition into and out of 3d mode easily with no change in feel around neutral.

I like to fly with full minus (plus for JR) expo so i dont have to bother with rates. smell movments on the stick make small movments on the surface, big mavments on the stick make big surface movments. Just a personal preferance

With my laser 3d, I've got about 35% on the ailerons, 80% on the elevators, and I tossed in 25 on the rudder for the fun of it :D

I like a pretty soft feel, so I do about 35% on low rate, and 80% on high rate.

its is up to you how much expo you use, but you should be carefull with using high amounts -40+.

If you go over this, then there is a period of the stick movement where the controls move very suddenly from the smooth response around neutral to the high throw when the stick is as far as it can go.This can happen on your final turn for landing, where the elevator suddenly becomes sensitive when the stick is at about 1/4 to 1/2 deflection, which can make the plane stall.
Its happened to quite a few jets and ducted fans when expo first came in.

Personally, i use -45 for the elevator, -40 for the ailerons, and -10 expo on the rudder.
I experimented by going over this , but i hated the feel of the model- around neutral it just didnt feel like a crazy 3d funfly.

Luke
