Im strongly thinkin about pudin a Moki 1.8 with a macks pipe on my .90 U Can Do and mounting the batery in the tail for CG balance.And yes im seriouse.this moter has 17 lbs thrust with an 18 -8 and the UCD is at about 8.5 lbs with this motor.THATS 8.5 lbs thrust in reserve,a 1 to 1 power ratio folks!!!!Im talkin seriouse power hear!!!I figure the wing loading would still be good for 3D henc the generouse wing area.I may need to make longer landin gear too for prop clearance.Im going to try this setup this week .Ill let you know how it flew.
Has any one tried this yet.If so how did it fly and what mods did you do? :cool:

I tried that but it wasnt enough power.

I put a DA-100 in it and its close to having enough.

Hmmm, for CG purposes a ZDZ 80 would be a little better, though you just don't get that "overpowered" feeling with this combo.

I lightened my set-up though because I used #8 wood screws to hold the motor on.
The long steel bolts are not needed on the 100. Maybe on the 150.

I can see your point. Plus the lower vibration of the DA-100 would be a little easier on the airframe than the ZDZ. I imagine you went with a wood prop for quicker spool up time? Running that engine on the UCD, you'd probably want the quickest reaction you can get.

I wud go for the quad cylindar ZDZ 160 rv. It only weis 10 lbs, but yu get 130lbs static out of it. that shud still be a little marjinal, but beteer to underpowar rathar than over powar, right?

I kinda like the idea of a 1.8 UCD. I doubt it will fit in the cowl, so just paint the engine white.

To save weight, I'd leave off the gear. Just hold it up at head level and hit the throttle. For a pilot like tavis, a deadstick glide to hand landing should be no problem.
