Best foam glue?
Hey guys I was wondering what the best foam glue is and what I need? Im building an indoor 3d plane and I need to keep it as light as possible and durable.
What do you guys think about this : [link=http://www.filadelfosrc.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article& catid=42:supplies&id=146:foamtac]Beacon Foam-Tac Glue - 2oz bottle[/link] Thanks! |
RE: Best foam glue?
Try RC56 canopy glue. This works well and the bond is stronger than the foam. I used this on a Depron plane, and when the vertical stabilizer broke, the break was about 3/16" above the glue joint.

You didn't say what kind of foam. If it's EPP, Quick-Grip s great as well as Goop thinned with MEK.
Don't try those on Depron or Blue-core though. |

+1 on the RC56.
Not only does it give a good bond and have reasonably good gap filling ability, it is also flexible enough for resilience when dumb thumbs strike. |
RE: Best foam glue?
I use foam safe Ca and also epoxy with great results. I thing a lot of it is personal preference and building style.

Hey guys thanks for the prompt replies! I took everything in to account and just went ahead and bought the glue I originally linked! Seems like it is some good stuff! Thanks all!
