The only defect with it is its weak undercarriage; it is a very light construction and requires a skilled pilot to manage very gentle landing. Other than that, it is a great plane with no other defects. It is a great flier does everything though the two at the club are both equipped with YS63-FZs. Vim

You're going to want more engine. It's a fun-fly type model and a .46 won't be much fun. Ys 63 would be great, or a Saito 91. Even saw one with a .61 fx and would hover all day.

Is there something better?

There is always something better... However, the Global Freestyle 3D works pretty good as a 3D plane. You will have to mess with the set-up some, move the CG around, and get the controls right, but once you do that you will have a nice 3D set-up.

Mine hovers very easily, as long as I don't get carried away with the rudder. My torque rolls are improving with every flight. All the other stuff like waterfalls, pop-ups, flat spins, and more can be done. The only thing I haven't had the courage to do full out yet is a blender. With those big surfaces, I am still building confidence it won't flutter. So far no problems though.

Someday I'll really get wild and see if she explodes. Full throttle, straight down, ailerons on high rate, full stick deflection, rolling faster than I can count, once she really winds up, throw the rest of the sticks in the corner and go to a flat spin and recover with a climbing flat spin. Either that or watch as the balsa pieces and covering flutter to the ground as the engine thumps to the dirt...

All-in-all, the Freestyle 3D is a good bargin for the price. Not the best, but for the price, a very good plane!

...on my Freestyle, i'm running an OS 46FX w/OS #8 plug, Tower $13 muffler, 15% nitro, APC 12.25 x 3.75 prop - hovers @ 3/4 throttle...
