I have a Hype 3d with an OS46FX and 11X7 prop. I'm not that taken with it even though it performs well enough. I don't really want to lash out £167.00 for the recommended motor and pipe, so am considering selling the airframe, but keeping the 46.
Any ideas on a suitable replacement. I'm quite interested in the flair giles 40 3d.

mmmmm, id get that engine, ive got one, its bl :D :Ddy amazing, i cant really describe it, but i'll try: west 50T1 turning a APC 13x4w at 13,000rmp, my flip is heavy:2.5kg and this engine/prop combo gives me a 2:1 power to weight, AMAZING

outherwise, if you dont whant the engine, i wouldent get the the giles, performes less than the hype.

where are you in the UK, come the the RCM&E freestyle comp and get some good proper advice form people of the likes of Ali M

I should keep the hype? Where is the RCM&E comp? I'm in Kent.

id keep the hype, although id strengthen the tail as this a weak point (use wires) and get the west engine, make sure its the T1 NOT the V1. this'll make it perform real good.

the RCM&E comp is just off stevanage, not to far if you can drive. To be presised its a mile or 2 of knebworth house, see http://www.rcuniverse.com/showthread...02&forumid=230

this will give you all the info you need

PS, change that prop first, use a 12.25 x 3.75, it'll be a better fun fly propp

I will have to wait a while before I can get the motor. Early xmas pres maybe. I was just going to put stiffeners inside the fus to strengthen it.

try get that prop though, it'll improve the flight, see, if you got a high pitch prop it'll go fast and fall apart, and it'll stuggle abit on hove pull out, its only a fiver, so get one!

i was gonna say that, ditch that prop? you the only guy with a fun fly in your club? been to the John partridge school of over propping? all funflys are sub 5" pitch, 4" is better. umm 46.. 12.25x3.75 should be good, or a 12x4. then you'll get the hype to fly right.

I second (or is that 3rd now?) the prop change but try an 11x4 as well as the 12x4 and 12.25x3.75. See which you like the best...... I would bother with the giles they're very heavy and you'll probably be disappointed. Good luck with whatever you decide!

Thanks for info. I'll try a 12 x 4 this weekend and then decide.
