First 3D plane

I have been debating on which plane to get as my first 3d plane. I have looked at the OMP 540P but don't really like the profile fuse. I like planes that at least somewhat resemble real planes. I looked at the Weston UK Cougar 2000 and had the same complaint. My question is, what would be a good plane to get that still looks like a real plane. I have Ikarus Aerofly Professional and can fly the aerobatic planes easily. I am not very good at 3d yet but can do knife edge and these spin things (Both sticks in the same corner, upper left or upper right, or reverse the elevator and do it inverted). I am learning to hover but am not very good yet (I can only hover for a few seconds). By the time I would get this built, I would be a lot better. I don't care if it is a kit or arf but would prefer kit. Any imput would be great!

the cougar is amazing to learn to prophang! i lernt in 2 weeks, i caught my arial in the elevator i was so close to it today!

on AFP i say edit the engines torque down to 0% this'll stop it rolling, make it easier, and slowly make the turbulance higher to make it more realistic as you get better, thats all i can say really

anyone else? Is the 3styla too advanced?

the 3styla is an amazing plane, on any 3D plane you can tame down the rates

what you have to do is have good throttle control, if you fly it wide open everything on the plane will fall off!

you must also choose the right prop, large diameter-low pitch, any thing below Diameter x5 is good.

the 3styla is not avalible in america.

A Laser 3D might be a good choice

any others, that is better though. I like that plane but isn't the design kind of old? Would it preform as good later?

I like that Laser, it has good looks and good flight characteristics. It should be pretty easy to build and it is a kit. Thanks for the info. Would an Irvine .53 on a mousse can pipe be good for this plane?

Any input, or do you think that the OMP is better and that I am wasting my time with a Laser?

3D or pretty?

Forget what it looks like, most of the stuff that looks like a real plane falls short in the 3D trainer department (Ucan, Funtana.....). Get a Sledge, it does it all and does it well. Keep the throws down until you get used to it (not long) and it'll get you where you want to go in short order.

If you are willing to spend around $800 ready to fly (less if you already have good high torque servos), then the H9 27% cap with a MOKI 2.10 is an excellent 3D plane. Very stable in all aspects of 3D flight that I have tried. It is as stable as my 31% edge and flys better in some aspects. The MOKI uses 0% nitro which costs only around $6.50 per gallon, so it is as cheap to operate as some smaller engines.

I've had the Laser and OMP. The Laser is a great kit, hovers great and does ok 3d. The OMP is a faster build and is more radical when you want it to. If you do a search on these planes there is alot of info. After you fly a OMP or Sledge you won't care how they look.

I think it is ohio models, more specifically the edge 540 profile. i thought about getting one myself.

What should I get, the OMP or the Sledge, I dont really care either way but the OMP is cheaper. Are they about the same? That 27% is cool but I don't have $800. I want to get the Columbo Anderson 27% with a gasser in it (Cheaper fuel) after this plane or maybe as my fourth.
