Needing smaller type 3D aerobat

Hi,
I'm looking to get a 3D plane to practice with and get aquainted with as much 3D as possible that may be able to take a few hits and do many of the manuvers well. I would rather it be a scale like plane such as an extra/edge/funtana/etc, but all suggestions will be looked into. Preferably in the $400 - $1200 range to get flying. I have large scale planes, but I just don't want to be learning to hover and harrier down low well with that much money [8D]
Thanks!

Have you looked into the Colombo Anderson Widebody60 its kind of two planes in one 3D/Pattern. I'm fixing to order one myself I have heard nothing but good things about the plane. [link=http://www.camodel.com.ar/Ingles/homeingles.htm]C.A Model[/link]

Here is where I'm fixing to order mine from [link=http://www.rcsuperstore.com/]RC Superstore[/link]

If you want it to fly like you bigger planes, go with a Funtana. Power with a 72 four
stroke or a 50 two stroke. The Funtana, I find flys like the 35-40%. However the
Funtana will roll faster than any of the big ones. I did not care for the way the Funtana
flew and retired it. I prefere the true 3D planes.

If you want a true 3D plane there are a few good choices. Not much in the scale look,
however excellent 3D machines.

The UCD series by great planes. Very stable in a hover, almost to easy to hover. You
can get that plane in 2 sizes. The big and little one. Do the bigger of the two. Power
it with a 100 stroker or a 90 two stroke.

I have started flying a Hype 3D and highly impressed with the plane. Good overall
flying, similar to a pattern plane and will do all the 3D stuff. The plane is made for
the West 50 motor and it is a great combo. Hovers well and has all the power to pull
out. This is a 60 inch plane and mine came in at 5lbs 4ozs.

The Espirt models are OK. I have a Diablo 2000 they import. I am dissippointed with
the construction of the plane and I have been told by others that is typical of their
planes. Very light, I will give it that, however I find it hard to buy another one of their
planes.

With any of these bird, it would be advisable to use good equipment, set it up with the
same type gear you would use in your big ones.

Here is a pic of the 2nd flight of the Hype. If the guy would have snapped a pic about
5 seconds later the tail would have been inchs off the ground. [:'(]

WOW!! Did not even notice that AND I have a brand new Flip RTF, just haven't flown it.

Yea, the Hype must be awesome.

The Flip is a good one also. I have been a fan of the Flip since the introduction. Some
people have a problem with the looks of the Flip.

It is available from Modellbau-USA, http://207.234.140.234/HYPEPAGE.htm

They show it as a combo with the motor and pipe, however you can by the plane by itself.

I put a thread about the hype here, http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/It%2...1132857/tm.htm

Check it out.

I have a 25 size Flip, have not put it together. I just got a Irvine 39 for it. It should be great, it looks just like the big Flip.

The bad part is, the Mini Flip is not available in the US. I waited 4 months for mine and I had to convince the guy that if he got 4 of them, I could sell all 4 of them. They are all gone. They were also expensive, $230.00, I think.

Isn't the 40 cheaper then that??

Chief Aircraft has the CMP Giles 3D for $99.00.
With a strong 40-46 or even a 50-72 4 stroke this is a fine 3D plane. Slowest invert flat spins I ever saw.
Full flying rudder, too.
Comes in at just under 5lbs..dry.
