UCD thrust angle

How much washer thickness is required for 3 degrees or so?

RE: UCD thrust angle

The answer is sin(3 degrees) x the distance between the mounting bolts.

For my UCD 60 the bolts are 1 7/8" apart and the thickness is .098".

Metric is easier 47.6 mm distance between bolts yields 2.5 mm thickness.

Sin(3 degrees) is 0.052335956.

PS I haven't done trig in years, but I a pretty sure this is right.

RE: UCD thrust angle

I find that washers tend to crush into the ply firewall after some time. I use the thrust plate from Ernst. Available in 1, 2 or 3 deg and you can combine them for higher angles. Very light and distributes the stress on the firewall and mounting bolts uniformly.
