New Flip 3D

I just bought a Kyosho Flip 3D. I'm new to 3D and don't know what to expect from this plane versus a traditional pattern one. Does it fly much slower and less aggressive? Can I do the same figures but slower and easier?

itll be totally different to a pattern plane, if you havent flown anything wild fly by the suggested throws, get a good egngine, ys60 or west 50 will be ballistic and CHOP DOSE TIPS OFF

If you want a plane that wil fly straight and level you have picked the wrong plane. The 3d monsters like the flip are not designed fo great straight tracking. You should not be straight and level during 3d flying at all. Just read up on the type of flying the Flip was designed for and you will enjoy greatly. I'm sure folks like Edible_engine will help you with set-up.

Prepare for the fun!!!!!!

Should I expect to fly the plane fast or does it do all the maneuvers slowly?

everything will(should) be done slowly. not as smooth as pattern but will do most pattern manoeuvres. set it up as on the box and try it

With 3D-type planes, such as the Kyosho Flip 3D, power management is the key. On all such models, a too-high flight speed will quickly encourage flutter of the control surfaces. That's just something you have to live with when you have one of these types of models. Make sure your control links and pushrods are slop-free.

Most flying is done at 1/2-3/4 throttle, with full throttle being used only for the initial part of the takeoff until you get airborne (if then), and for verticals. With an especially powerful engine, even verticals won't need full throttle. With a good setup, you can hover at arount 3/4 throttle or slightly less, and then climb out by adding more.

Dual rates are considered a must by many fliers so that takeoffs and landings are easier. With the large control throws needed for 3D flying, they can make landings a bit touchy unless you have a very fine touch on the controls.

The Flip's a fine airplane, and you should get a lot of enjoyment out of it.
