Need Help With Engine choice for my Seduction Freestyle.
Hey guys.
I am going to purchase a ASP 80 with OS silencer from [link=http://www.justengines.unseen.org]www.justengines.unseen.org[/link] its going to cost around £140 with the OS silencer mod. how will the ASP 80 fit in the Seduction Freestyle ? I would really appreciate some help on this as i really don't want to pay out money for something that is no good for the plane.. i would get a YS 63 but since i am 17 cost plays a HUGE part. Thanks Adam |

os 50 sx is a good choice, if you like 2 strokers

Irvine 53, also. If you can swing a little more money, a Saito 72. The ASP will be quite heavy and spoil the 3D abilities.

RE: Need Help With Engine choice for my Seduction Freestyle.
hey guys thanks for your replys. I am trying to stay away from 2 strokers this time i wanted to put a nicer 4 stroke engine in this plane. a saito .72 looks very nice but £££ is a main factor for me the cheapest i can find it is £199.... if i saved up for that i may as well put a couple more ££ to a YS 63. (Not sure on cost). what do you guys think of the O.S 70 FS Surpass Mk II ??? still it is a little pricey though.
Anyway.. any help is still useful!!! |
RE: Need Help With Engine choice for my Seduction Freestyle.
You would probably be better off with the Magnum or ASP 61 as they are so much lighter. Both are bored out 52s. The 80 is probably too heavy for this plane, you'll have all the vertical you want but the flying will probably suffer.
No point going for the OS 70. The ASP 80 is basically a bored out OS 70 copy. So the OS is still too heavy, and now you are paying more. Visit http://www.skylarkrc.co.uk/ for cheap Saitos and Magnums. Personally I'd try the YS 63. Cheapest I have found is from http://www.probuild-uk.co.uk/. |
RE: Need Help With Engine choice for my Seduction Freestyle.
well i would love to get a YS 63 but as i say i really cannot afford £210! may not be much to you but since i am still a full time college student i am short of money. it has taken me allong time to save up enough to get this plane i have around £400 to spend on it.
if any one is selling a YS 63 i would be very interested to know! |
RE: Need Help With Engine choice for my Seduction Freestyle.
In that case get either the Magnum or ASP 61. At £109 or £105 I'd say they are hard to beat in terms of value.
Assuming that you build it light, and there are plenty of people on here that say they have done it for less that 4 1/2 lb, these engines should certainly be enough. |
RE: Need Help With Engine choice for my Seduction Freestyle.
You really need to take your time to save up for the YS .63. The plane was designed for that engine. The tank mounts through a bulkhead right on the CG. The motor mount holes are pre-drilled and lined up to fit the YS, the mount itself was designed for the YS. Don't rush yourself into getting anything else, just take your time and save. There is YS and then there is everything else.
If you are bound and determined to not get a YS then spring for a Saito 72. Lighter engine means less tail weight. Both my Seduction Freestyles came in at 4 1/4 lb. On your first flight you should make sure that you do not have much control throw. The plane is extremely extremely aggressive. It goes where you tell it very quickly. It took me about ten flights to speed up my reaction time to match the plane, and that is saying a lot because it is the first time i have ever had to do that. I am used to flying around with 3d rates on most planes with no exponential. |
RE: Need Help With Engine choice for my Seduction Freestyle.
I am not cancelling out the YS 63 all together i was just wondering if there was a cheaper version.
Can a some people give me advice on what glues etc to use on this plane. i have only built 2 other planes and both where very good, they where WOT 4(nice and easy starter(still alive)) then my 2 year old extra (but that found the ground at full speed on my birthday :(). I have always wanted to get allot of performance out of my aircraft and i think 3D will be fun. i have allot of time to build this model so i will not rush. I think if i do buy the YS 63 it will be near the very end of the project. -Adam |

The directions on the model are horrible, or at least the translation. You are going to have to figure out in what order and how the parts fit together. Make sure you put the elevater joiner in the fusalage before hinging or glueing the joiner in. Just be careful and use some foresight. Overall it is a very quick build and a pleasure to complete as long as you think ahead.
Don't modify anything. The model is perfectly aligned and thought out, if you change one thing there are consequences. I used thin CA, some wood glue as a gap filler (not much needed), and very light amount of epoxy. I used epoxy only on the firewall, elevater joiner, wing bolt mounts, and to glue the wing halves together. The Seduction Freestyle is a brilliant performer. It is an absolute spinning machine as it will flat spin even with a way forward CG. Does the most beautiful snaps and wing tip spins you will ever see. This being said if you are new to 3d you might want to practice with a cheap ARF first, but i don't know what your capabilities are. |
RE: Need Help With Engine choice for my Seduction Freestyle.
As you are in the UK, where nitro is supposedly very expensive, perhaps the new OS 70 Ultimate could work?
Traditionally os's are more suited to low nitro fuels. This is the option I am going for on my freestyle, over the ys .63. Nitro is many $$$$ here too, and I can get OS at wholesale prices. The ultimate 70 is a bored out and pumped 52 and only weighs slightly more (10g or so) than the ys .63. Its a similar priced beast though, but spend the money once and do it properly. With the os or ys you can mount the tank on the C.G. I know the claimed PS ratings just dont stack up- OS 70 ultimate 1.2 hp, YS .63 1.5hp, but the proof is in the prop turning figures. The old os .70 seems to be only slightly down on power against the ys, with the new ultimate claimed to produce more power than the original .70 It depends what nitro content fuel you intend on running. I will report back my experiences ( and RPM figures) with the new os .70 ultimate, when I get my hands on one in a couple of months. Cameron McDonald |
