Sig Something Extra Kit Final Weight
Can you tell me the finished weight of your Sig Something Extra. I've heard that the ARF finishes out a full pound more than the kit and will avoid the ARF if that's the case.

RE: Sig Something Extra Kit Final Weight
I dont know about all of that. In fact I have heard it the other way around. I had a friend that went crazy over this airplane after seeing the kit one fly. He went out and purchased the ARF version. He installed the same motor as the kit one and he claims his ARF was almost a pound lighter. I have never owned one of these but I have flown 3 of them. Two were kit built and one was an ARF. I dont know the specs on the planes but I couldnt tell much difference in the flight performance between the airplanes.

RE: Sig Something Extra Kit Final Weight
Flown at leat half a dozen. Mine came out a 4 3/4 lbs with a Webra 50 on it (kit). Another guy in the club built one and it came out at 6 1/2 lbs witha 46 FX in it. Used a lot of epoxy & reinforced some things he didn't need to. Those were the two extremes. The other kits/ARF's I've flown have been inbetween, but generally my experience has been the kits come out weighing less. The best benefit of a kit probably isn;t weight, but the ability to add to the rudder & put a pull/pull system in for elevator & rudder.

RE: Sig Something Extra Kit Final Weight
My kit finished up at 4lbs. 13oz. OS 46FX. It had solid vertical and horizontal surfaces, I took out all the wood I could (surfaces and the rest of the plane). Don't know what the latest ARF's weigh but the vertical and horizontal surfaces are built up stick and they are using a smaller wing tube.
