Engine Recommendation? Edge 540T

I'm seriously considering ordering a Wild Hare R\C Edge 540T. I know a DA 50 would be perfect, but I'm hearing $800.00 for a DA 50 ready to go. (muffler, stand-offs etc.)Does anyone want to recommend another gasser thats a little easier on the wallet but still puts out serious power for 3D? Thanks to all who reply.

P.S. Hey Joshflies3d, you are my hero. :)

You could use the G62 that Wild Hare designed the model around.

I wouldn't use any smaller motors. THat plane is said to be designed at 16+ pounds. Tom is recommending the g62.

I have heard Tom has one set up on a DA-50 and one on a G-62 to show everybody that the G-62 is "the motor" for this airplane. That is what he designed it around. Do yourself a favor and pick one up used for around $300 and be done with it. I bought the two G-62's that I had this way and both of them have been very good running motors. I dont think that I have ever had a deadstick.

But the G62 is so heavy compared to the Brison, BME, and other 50cc class engines isn't it? I was under the thinking of lighter is better. Please! dont get me wrong though, I DO appreciate ALL replys. Thanks guys, keep 'em commin.

A G62 on ignition will hover a 22 pound plane swinging a 24x10 prop. Get one from RCIGN1, bolt it on, and have fun.

How about the new ZDZ 50 or even ZDZ 60 or 3w-75 ......

I paib $618.00 from Da for my 50 including standoffs, muffler and shipping.
G-62 and DA 50 are not even in the same class. The DA is worth every penny.Believe me there is a difference, and it favors DA.I have nothing against Zenoah, just not in a 3D plane.JMO,
Mike

While I will agree that a DA with the works is $620.
ZDZĀ® 80 RV
List $615.00
Pitts Style Smoke Muffler $130.00
Side Mount Smoke Muffler $49.95

I think for the money, I would spend the extra $50 for the muffler and get a ZDZ single.

ZDZ 80RV for a WildHare Edge 540T would be nuts and way overpowered. ZDZ 80RV is for a 22-25lb plane and that will give it unlimited vertical no problem.

DA-50 just like the older siblings are a great line of motors

ZDZ 50 is another great running motor

BME 50 with the new BME 55X coming sometime hopefully

Taurus 52cc is supposively the smoothest running gasser made and strong

3W 50

First Place Engines, FPE makes I believe a 40-50cc engine also

Much to choose but DA 50 pretty much tops the list
