Will a Goldberg Sukoi 3D?

Hello,

I have a Goldberg Sukoi with a Supertigre 3000 on it.......is it 3D capable? The surfaces seem large enough. Should I even bother to set it up with throws for 3D or just leave it in a more converntional type of setup.

It will not break my heart if it won't work because it flies great pattern like manuevers. Plus, I have a Razzle that will 3D out the wazzooo.

Thanx for your input,

Tom

What does it weigh?

If it is light, (10 pounds or so) it would be a 3D machine for sure. If it is 12+ pounds, probably not. I've seen them do all scale aerobatics, and they do them well. I've seen one TR on the old Goldberg site. I think the pilot was Dave Patrick himself. You are correct, the surfaces are well built for 3D, and the plane is bred for aerobatics.

The ST 3000 should be plenty of power. What prop are you thinking for 3D? Can it turn a 18x6W APC? I had one of those on an OS 160, and it was a stump puller for sure.

Good luck.
PS, put the CG in the trunk!

If you can get at least 1.5 times the weight in thrust out of your engine/propeller configuration you can do it with this plane.

I think it will turn an 18 x 6W with ease. It now turns a Zinger 18 x 8-14 with no problem whatsoever. It should weigh in at about 10 to 11 pounds dry.

I have one of them but it will not 3d, but I think it is because of the motor not the airframe. Mines got a o.s 160 on it weighing 11lbs dry. Not comparable to my UCD3D

I had mine for six years now and it will 3D, has to be true and light, I'm using an OS 108, weight 9lbs, APC 16x8, first thing about 3D use good props not just sport props the difference is huge.
