Hovering/G2 sim

I have the G2 sim and just started trying to hover. I have a Cap232 that I am using in the sim. Is this the right plane to use to learn to hover with this sim? Any suggestions for settings, planes? Thanks

Michael

I use the CAP 232 to hover on G2. It's highly modified, of course. I think it weighs something like 5 lbs??? I run the Super Tigre 4500, with hover around 1/2 throttle. Make sure your control surfaces are huge and the deflection is huge. Much more deflection is needed for 3d than for sport flying. Good luck, Andrew

I dont know what upgrades you have but I like the 40% EDGE 540 for easy tourqe rolling

The stock 3D Sukhoi and the 3D Extra 330L both hover nicely with good torque rolls - just takes a good bit of practice.

Almost all the planes in G2 will hover with only a change of engine to give them enough power to hover. But you can edit other stuff to make it easy.

I have G2, but noe of the add-ons. Can anyone send me one of the included airplanes modified for practicing 3D stuff? I have found some "giant-scale" versions of the CAP, but they are ridiculously easy to hover and all but impossible to fly normally!

Thanks!

Keep practicing with the stock Cap - the only "3d" it will do is torque roll and the entry is a little tricky, but once you get to where you can TR it all day long and touch the tail, doing it in real life becomes EASY b/c you'll have learned to give the correct inputs quickly without really thinking about it. And if you can TR like that first, hovering becomes a non-issue.

What adjustments do you need to make for the stock cap? It keeps snapping out on me. I'm currently practising on a 3D Ultimate I down loaded, but it is very easy and I need a bit more of a challenge to improve.

down load the Goldgerg Extreme 330 profile. It is a little closer to actual R\C flight. It's not as easy as the Ult 3-D perso.

I have had best results with using the Extra 330S as a beginning platform for 3D mods, if you have the addons 4 disk, download the Freestyle (SD) version of it from the swap page, this is an excellent start. Then tune it to suit your needs, I have 4 varients of this aircraft I regularly fly, each of them set up to fly a little different style of 3D... great plane. The stock Extra 330S 3D is what I used as my "hovering" sharpener and works quite well. The Edge is also a great plane to start with.

Have fun!

Mike Badger has a great collection of RFG2 planes modified for 3D at [link=http://www.aero3D.net]AERO3D.net[/link]

You can get some nifty paint schemes too.

Try the download of the CAP 2X from the website. Better to learn from than the 3D CAP. Then go to the 3D CAP for more realism.
