I tried to do a search on this plane, but I came up pretty much empty.
I bought one of these from a fellow club member today and I'm setting it up to fly tomorrow. Everything is set except the CG. What is the recommended CG for this plane? Also what is the 3D cg for this plane? Anybody wanna give me a quick flight report? I've seen my buddy fly it a few times, but he is more of a roll and loop kinda flyer.

HB 61 2stroke
APC 13-4w prop
futaba 3003's all around except for a hitec 5475 on the rudder
dry weight: 5lbs 12oz

i saw a couple fly at a british modelling show, looked pretty good, more funfly than 3d though, torque roll looked good, thats about all he did with it.

its parallel chord wing, put the c/g to a third of the chord back and thats a good starting point, move it back to taste.

i couldnt tell you what setups they were running

Yes I have been flying it. I have roughly 20 flights on it now. It flys very nice. One of the most stable planes I've flown. The HB 61 that i am using to power it with makes a lot of power surprisingly. Spinning the APC 13-4W prop at 11700 rpm. It makes over 8lbs of static thrust and the plane weights just over 6lbs with a full load of fuel. Unlimited vertical. It will hover at 1/2 throttle and it maintains a hover very easily. The only thing i'm alittle disappointed about is knife edge flight. It has serious roll and pitch coupling problems. Once I get that all mixed out, it should be much better. Inverted flat spins are very flat with min loss of altitude. Elevators and harrier flight is very good, little to no wing rock with about 30% spoilerons. Waterfalls are excellent and very tight. Snap rolls are about what you might expect from a fun fly type of plane. Rolls are quick and axial. The plane tracks very well thru up/down lines and loops both inside and outside. Landings are super smooth, but you have to be able to get a very low idle or the plane will just continue to float right on down the runway, especially once you get low on fuel and the cg starts creeping rearward. So far i'm pretty happy with it.
As far as sticking a 91fx on it, I'd love to know how that works out. The 61 bushing motor is plenty for all out 3d as it is. Plus it is very good on fuel also. A typical flight (15 minutes)with quite a few full throttle blasts to the moon only uses about half a tank. I think it is either a 10 or 12 oz tank.

Thank you for the info. Except for KE it sounds pretty good. I have a Magic that is a lot of work KE. If I am in the groove it is o.k., but just get a little off, and it snaps out.

I have one and am planning on putting a Saito .72 in it. Coupe, you've flown it, do you think the .72 will be enough?

Hey Tom...
Absolutely, in fact About a month ago I pulled the 61 2 stroke out and installed the saito .72. It isn't as much of a rocket ship with the .72 but will still hover and pull out very nicely. Still has unlimited vertical. Hover is maybe 2 to 3 clicks over half. The torque of the .72 is much nicer then the 61 2 stroke. Spinning the same 13-4w prop at about 10,500rpm. That is down just over 1000rpm from the .61, but you'd never know it. The .72 spins up much faster. I am having a lot of fun with the passion. It has really helped out my 3d down on the deck tremendously. I have no fear of getting low due to the fact that it is so stable, light and powered just right. Still can't knife edge this plane with out really working hard, due to roll and pitch coupling. I can't mix it out on my radio because the radio won't mix with 3 channels.

Thanks for the info Al. The Saito is the way I will go. This is my second plane from CMP, the first was a .40 size Giles 202- 3D and I really liked it. I had a Saito .50 in that one. The quality of the kits by CMP is outstanding. As was the case with the Giles, the only thing, besides most of the hardware, that I'll replace will be substituting a 6061 T6 landing gear for the piano wire torsion type.

By the way, I'm finishing up a Kangke Laser right now with a DA-50. Great motor.

Al, one more question, where do you have the c/g set on your bird? Ok, maybe two questions, are you still having fun with the Passion. Mine is about ready, just waiting on a receiver.
