GP Extra 300s 60 size. There is a thread in the Kit Building forum on it showing 3D mods.

First of all let me say WELCOME to RCUniverse.

Secondly there is a MODERATOR here on RCUniverse that is very knowledgable about the GP 60 size EXTRA. He in fact gave me enough information on 60 size EXTRAs that I decided to get the 60 size GP EXTRA. Send MINNFLYER a PM and ask him some questions. Before you do though, as already mentioned, look at some of the other threads on this subject. There are several

The GP Extra 300 Thread is mine. I dont recommend the GP Extra 300 for 3D. The wing loading is too high, the wing airfoil is all wrong, surfaces too small and the plane is too heavy.

I love the plane for conventional aerobatics just not 3D. There really arent any .60 size Extra 3D planes. Even the CG listed above is not ideal. Sure a YS 1.40 will drag it around with raw power but it will not do the 3D manuvers properly.

Extremeflightrc.com will eventually have a good .60 size 3D ARF but they are having supply problems so no ETA on the planes. Look at that website and note the size of the flying surfaces and thickness/blunt airfoil on the wing. Thats what you need for 3D in addition to extreme light weight and very low wing loading.

Adrian, how heavy did yours come out at.

I definately want this plane, just trying to decide whether it is worth enlarging the surfaces for 3D or not. You seem to say not!

Waiting till tomorry for my buddy to paint the cowl. Will have a weight by Monday.

Add 1 inch to the trailing edge of the rudder and move the elevator hinge line forward 1/2" and the plane will fly great. These are common and well recieved mods.

The kit has been out for a few years and the stock elevator and rudder authority is pretty tame. It was designed for when guys would load in a 91FX and fly wide open the entire time. The smaller surfaces keep things safe under these conditions.

It is a beautiful kit. Excellent engineering, fit and goes together pretty fast. It was alot more fun to build than my US 40+.

I'll have a flight report on my build thread Sunday night.
