What a good looking plane! How do you like it? Does it have any bad habits? Is it easy to land? Does it tip stall?

I really like the plane, but there are those who don't. Do a search on the site for "dave and patrick and extra and 330" and you;d get all of it. Much has been said.

I have less than a dozen flights on mine.

Cheech; Great covering job. Nice co-pilot too. I take it you like the Troy gear. I am going to use it for an Edge which I am building. Where is your flying field? I live in Louisiana but I'm from Chicago NW side and every now and then I get back into the home town.

My home field is a well kept secreat. It's a small AMA sanctioned club that flies on a private field waaay out in the northwest suburban boonies off of 72 and Randall Rd.

I also fly at the public fields like Shoe Factory, Busse Woods, Deer Grove, Pratt-Wayne, etc...

Weather has sucked. It has rained eleven of the twelve past weekends. I really really want to get out more. I have had only TWO full flying days since winter broke. I am suffering from cabine fever/shack nasties.

I have been to Busse Woods, I’m from Schiller Park so I’m familiar with most of these spots. What did you use for your covering? I think you did a great job on it. Are ther any secrets to mounting the CF gear? I have never used this type of gear. It also looks like you are flying a CF prop?

Ahh... I use to work on the River Road in Rosemont and used to lunch-time fly at Schiller Woods forest preserve.

My covering is monocote. I used red, black, white and a little cub yellow. The cowl paint is that LusterCoat stuff in the rattle cans. The checkerboard pattern on the rudder and the unseen checks on the underside of the wing were a pain. The white was put down first and then removed where each of the checks go. The lettering on the wings is monocote that I laid out on the computer to fith the wing. Most the other graphics are vinyl.

The prop is a 20x10 Mezjlik carbon fiber. The gear are carbon fiber but they were no big deal to install. I set them up with a new set of wheel pants, painted red instread of white and then drilled them to fit the four landing gear bolts on the plane. They do not have the big forward sweep that the stock gear or the TnT gear had, but they look okay. The weight savings was worth it. There was six ounces between the TnT gear and the carbon fiber.

Sounds like a lot of work went into this, but the results are worth it. Yours looks first class.
Is the carbon fiber gear a little more springy and therefore less likley to bounce you back into the air. With the alumumn gear for me at least it'll bounce me back up on those "rare" less than perfect landings, wire gear has some give to it so it'll smooth out the landing. I would hope that the CF gear gives a little.
