programming hitech servos

I am building the katana 140 and would like to put the Hitech 5925 dig. on the elev. I will use a program mix in my jr 8103 to each elevator halve. Do I have to purchase the hitech programmer in order to use the Hitech servos or will the radio mix be able to take care of centering and end point settings
thanks and happy holidays

I thin kthey take care of themselves in that setup.

From what I can gather, the programmer really comes in useful when for instance you have two servos on one aileron... due to mechanical advantage or slightly different outputs from each servo, this can lead to extra servo stress and all that business.

RE: programming hitech servos

When you have a need to match a pair of, or reverse a servo, the programmer is worth having hands down in my book. I have spent hours attempting to get the elevator servo's on my UCD 60 to work in unison with less than stellar results.

I finally gave in and got the programmer, made a degree wheel to check the center and endpoints of the pair of 5625's I was using and immediately found them to differ by a few degrees. Needless to say that was why I had so many issues when attempting to do the adjustment with the linkages and the radio programming. I simply matched the endpoints and center on the degree wheel, reversed one and installed them in the plane, absolutely perfect.

Enough said....

The short of it is, if you are using paired servos on any surface the programmer is a nice addition to your tool kit, if not save your cash for something else.
