greetings all forum members!
does any of you use fireline fishing string for pull-pull system?
this material does not stretch , and holds up to 30 lb' , its very light and most importent it does not disturb the reception (like the metal wire). what is your opinion on this material?

It looks like a good product. Not sure if it will pass the "no stretch" in the application. Many use leader for this application. The 30 lb test would work on a smaller plane. Use much stronger material on a 120 (1.2 ci) size plane. Bill

I would agree with EXCAP...I dont think that it wouldnt stretch..Most fishing lines stretch a bit... Also, any sharp object will easily snap the fishing line unlike the pull-pull cables that come with the system..
I would not use it on a 120 size plane...

Actually, Fireline will stretch, not like monofilament, but it will stretch a little...Spiderwire would be a better choice. It's a braided Spectra line that behaves like Kevlar (extremely high strength, zero stretch) with better flexibility. You can find up to 80lb test line at your local Walmart. It's a little more expensive and doesn't take CA (you'll have to tie and crimp it), but it's great stuff.

However, I still wouldn't use it on a really large plane (say, larger than 1/4 scale)...I would use 120lb test coated steel leader line:

I would reccomend that you use the Du-Bro 4-40 pull-pull system in your plane. It is very strong, and I have it in my Hydeout and it works very nice. Just a suggestion.

I am still concerned about interference with my rx ant as I routinely put my ant inside the fuse which puts it within a couple of inches of the pull=pull cables. Therefore I mostly use non-metalic cables for pull-pull applications. Spyder wire fishing line works great for me however I usually build less than 1/4 scale.

I have been putting the Du-bro metal pull pull setups in my planes for years and also place the antenna inside the fuselage and have never had a problem with interference.

Ditto on the Dubro pull-pull. It's a great product and comes with most everything you'll need. I can buy it at my LHS for around $6 and it comes with quite a bit of cable. The DuBro cable is coated, no exposed metal.

Thanks guys I have often wondered if this was as much of an issue as I had heard. Naturally since I had not tried it myself I didn't know. Sounds as if it might be OK, and I plan to try steel cables soon.

I have experienced some servo jitter when using piano wire for pull/pull. That is with a servo with all metal gear train. SO I use Kevlar. You can buy a spool of it from your hobby shop. Get the kind the control line guys use. It will last a long time. Kevlar seems to be the most resilant to temp changes and doesnt stretch. Very tough stuff. On the part of the line that is exposed at the back of the fuse to fuel exhaust... just a drop of thin C/a on it and it will be protected. Its also very easy to replace a line if needed even at the field. Use eyelets at each end and tie off the line with a double knot and a drop of C/A on the knot and it will not come loose.
