Laser 3D

I have inherited a Laser 3D airframe. It is a 40 size. I have read many of the posts on this plane about the tail being weak etc. My question is will a Super Tigre G45 be an ok engine for this. Or will it be too under power. I am new to the hobby so at this point I don't have any planes to wring this thing out yet. I have the engine already so that is why I am considering this option.

Thanks for the opinions.

Barely... When you get a spare $100, I'd recomend getting a Magnum 52XLS. It'll be absolutely ballistic with that. SuperTigre's are horribly heavy.

It will fly fine on the 45. Now Im not going to tell you that it will hover and have tons of power to pull out but it will fly around great. As far as the G45 being too heavy??? I think Aaron should do some more research. The G45 weighs 13.22 oz. and produces somewhere around 1.42 Bhp. When compared to the O.S. .46 FX at 13.20 producing around 1.62 Bhp you can see that the G45 is just as light. The O.S. produces more power than the G45. I dont like supertigre engines. To me their transition is aweful but if you have one sitting around, put it on there. I am sure you will fall in love with the plane and end up spending more money on a better engine to see what it will do.

I have said it once and I will say it again. The saito .72 is THE MOTOR for this airplane. You can hover and 3D with less but you will NOT beat that combo. I guess I am biased :) . The only 4 strokes you will see on the front of my planes is Saito and Y.S. Magnums are alright (I have had a couple before I realized what I was missing) but when a .52 only weighs less than 1 oz. of a saito .72 you can bet where I would place my bet at.

But with a muffler the ST is 2 ounces more.
However I should have looked at the specs again. I based that on the 61 and 75 weight, 27oz, which is the same as my OS 108...
