Is an Extra good for 3D Flying

I recently got a Great Planes Extra 300S .40. I was wondering if it was a good plane for 3D Flying? If so what would be some easy maneuvers to start with, and what size engine would you recommend? Also can you set up a two stroke for smoke?

I dont think so..You would have to modify it alot..a REAL lot...I have the .60 and I modified the rudder, ailerons, and elevators and although it flies awesome its not a 3d machine..You would be better off looking at a profile or a plane built specifically for 3d..(Funtana etc)

Probably not the best choice for 3D.should be able to do some.Dont smoke.2 strokes need preheating and the much added weight on a 40 size will be disapointing. a 72 4 stroke may give best performance

Redrum! thanks for your reply so quickly. I just piked this one up for nothing and was just wondering about its capabilities. What is it really used for in R/C flying? Pattern, Scale etc...

Not really pattern.. Extra's fly very good..They do your basic loops, rolls, spins lomcevaks, knife edge, flat spins..I would say sport-scale...For the 3d stuff like waterfalls, harriers etc you need a light plane with lots of power..

The GP 40 Extra holds its own with scale aerobatics but it isn't a 3D machine. It is a lot of fun to fly though.

Small extras arent that great. But the 25% extras and above can do it all.

Yea that extra is good for just messin around, and can be lots of fun, but it would NOT be a good plane for 3D. 35 and 40% extra's are awesome though.
