Using 7005 Low Profile on elevator??

Hi Guys

Just wondering would a single JR 7005 be powerful enough for my MK Bell Crank driven 2m patternships elevator, anyone using these in this way. I see quite allot using 2 on each stab and thought 1 might not be strong enough. Thanks. Mike

Using 7005 Low Profile on elevator??

Easily enough power, in Florida at the '99 WC, I noticed that CPLR was running a 9102 wing servo in this application, only 50 inoz, I think the 7005 has got about 80 ish if I remember correctly.

uhhh...., maybe 4721's

Hey Mike,

I have a Hydeout that has a somewhat similar elevator setup, I am running an arrow-y pushrod, but I have 4721's on the rudder and elevator and 7005's on each aileron. This setup works great. The 7005's might work on the elevators, but this is just my opinion on the subject. BTW, the 7005's have about 60 oz/in of torque. The 4721's have 120 oz/in of torque.

P.S. -

What kind of pattern plane do you have?

Using 7005 Low Profile on elevator??

Hey Mike. Just a note of importance here.

On my Oly, I use the 7005 on the ailerons. In 1.5 years the gears have stripped 3 times, including today on one of the ailerons. Am not sure why this happens, and I don't have excessive throws, but this would be disasterous on the Elevator. For the extra $10 or so, personally would go with 4721/2721/8411.

This is just my experience. I'll continue to replace gears and use on the Ail. Am funny that way.

Using 7005 Low Profile on elevator??

The planes a matrix and its my first 2m F3A airframe... :) Firstly, thanks for the info guys. The full story is I am getting 3 "brand new" but second-hand super servos off an ex JR sponsored pilot for quite a bit cheaper than new. I havn't received the servos yet (in the next few days) but am assuming that they are similar to the 7005. They are low profile super servos 2 which I have been told run at full power all of the time (ailerons) and the other which is newer, that I was going to run on the elevator and only runs at full power when in use, I was told what servos they are but cant remember !!!, I've been 100% a futaba user until now. I do know that these super servos have nylon gears so really what Ed says scares me. Has anyone else had problems with the gears stripping. I'm sure that they will handle the elevator but stripping the gears would not be a good start to my first 2m plane. thanks
