i have used alot of series 3 ASP engines, including, 36,40, 53, and 75. they are excellent engines which rivel OS in my oppion. They are fully ballraced and are well made ( the casts are copys of the OS FX range i think). They are also very reliable and powerful.

Also well priced.

All the best

Andy

I've recently bought the .91 for my Spitfire build! The reports on the ASP MK3 series is generally very good from what I've read on other forums!

make sure you run ASP 2 strokes with a minimum of 18% oil, less than that will cause the bearings to wear out prematurely

Good buy, I'd consider them to be one of the best for performance, especially considering the price!

I've just put the ASP .61 FS in my WM P-51, spins a 12x8 APC prop @ 10,400 rpm after run in.

i have a 2 year old ASP 36 used every week in my limbo, turns a 10x4 APC at a great speed, no problems at all. One of the best engines i have

just two that went wrong here, mine 10 flights and i lost the bearing cage, barrys lasted all of 6 months before the bearings went, strangly Magnums last 10 months despite being the same engine.
i wont touch another SC,Magnum,ASP 36. however my Magnum 21 and 15 are great.

ASP's carry a 2 year warranty, contact your LHS to find out about repair/replacement. If you got them from Just Engines then you will not have a problem, these people are just the dog's conckers for after sale service.

and this is where my probelm started, JE first HATE with a passion Synth fuels, thats despite using it themselves in the performance figures.
So when i sent back my engine they claimed it was dry as a bone and it was the synth fuel that caused a bearing cage to break apart after 10, 4 min stressfree flights. i could have run the engine on water and sand and expected better bearing life than that!
the same has also happened many many times in our club on their "cheaper" engines, they would rather fob you off and give BS than stand by the product.
broken conrods on the first run, wrong fuel!
worn out engines sent for service within 2 years warrentty, bearings worn caused the damage, bearings only covered for 6 months, so engine isnt covered, sell you a new one -muffler and carb for just £15 quid less than advertised price ( carb and muffler are worth more than that ) then send the new engine and keep my old "to cover their costs", phoned and moaned, got it back with a print out of their rules "so theres no confusion next time" 3rd option on the list, you buy a new engine we send the old one back to you FOC
I'm not saying they do this with the more expensive engines but recently more than a few of us have been bent over and given a right seeing to over the cheaper engines. I agree JE used to be the muts nuts for service, don't know whats happened the past year or so.

I dont think anythings happened? ... very fast email replies, good stock, very fast deliveries, reasonably priced everything, all knowledgable enough.. sure they make the odd minor mistake here and there but they're more of a pleasure to do business with than a lot of companies, i must say!

i will third that apart from one time (the only time ive used their service) when i needed a new carb (low pass was TOO low lol) and they sent me one royal mails special delivery , it ame in a day (ordered it early morning so it came ASAP) but they sent me one without the holes drilled:( so i sent it back. they asked no questions and happily replaced it with anouther which took a bit over a week to deliver. Im guessing it wasn their fault considering their great reputation and it was royal mail!!

RE: ASP Engines...??

I have an ASP .61 and I really love it. It's not a powerhouse by any means (I have a Y.S.63 for that purpose) but on my scale cessna, it's just right. But then again... it's a 4-stroke. If you are talking about 2 strokes, I wouldn't have a clue. But those 2-stroke engines from China seem to leak quite a bit and a lot of my friends running them have to literally throw in the towel to get them to stop :-)
