3d Control linkage setup
 

I am not having any luck getting alot of throw on my Funtana. Can someone post a pic or advise me how to set up my plane to get max deflection. I am using standard (supplied) horns, hitec 605 servos, and supplied linkages. Do I need to buy Dubro servo arms and control horns? Is there other equipment that will work better?

I don't have a funtana, but on all my 3D type planes, I use long servo arms - dubro are fine for the funtana.

I am having the same problem on my elevator. I can get the recommended throw of 40 degrees, which may be enough, but i like having a little extra to be sure. You would think that it would be enough since they designed it for a 3-D plane and they say 40 degrees is enough. Ill try it this weekend and see. As far as everything else i am getting plenty of throw. My ailerons are at about 60 degrees and my rudder is touching my elevators. I have Hitec 615MG's with the aluminum servo arms from my dads Hitec 5945 hardware. I also have 4-40 linkages with ball links and metal clevises. The control horns are stock though. I just pray that mine doesnt have the sanpping problem that some of the other funtanas have had. Good luck with yours.

Umm, you could start by using high quality metal servo arms such as (maximum length of 1-1/4")SWB (www.swbmfg.com) Hanger 9 metal arms (www.horizonhobby.com) or Sure Link if you really were serious (www.sure-link.com)

You then can use a ball bearing swivel ball link (Hangar 9 took over Rocket City and sells them) 4-40 Heavy Duty ball links attached to the metal arm


Use Hangar 9 Titanium Pro Links for pushrods and then use a quality control horn like maybe www.cactusaviation.com sells, and either another ball link for that or use a steel clevis which again Horizon Hobby sells.


That is a very very solid linkage proven in many of the GS planes and pros.

If your still not getting desired throw, then buying a kit and building it and doing a proper double bevel will do.


40 degrees should be a good amount for 3D flying
