Seduction Freestyle Setup's

I know there have been several threads on the Freestyle, but let's commit this one to set-ups and equipment only! I am currently building one and am just looking for information. One thing I know is I'll be putting a YS .63 engine in it, I'm unsure about everything else. I'm sure all this information is scattered throughout RCU, but lets locate it in one place!

Post your information!!! Any other important things I missed?

1) Engine and Prop
2) Servos (specifics on each control)
3) Radio set-ups (modes for 3d versus pattern, expo, etc)
4) Control throws
5) CG location
6) Anything else?

RE: Seduction Freestyle Setup's

Hi,

I am building the Free Style Ono Spl at the moment. Its a pleasure building it though very frustrating to figure things out as the Ono spl is different from that shown on the plans with the kit.
I intend using YS 63 and the 13x6 prop. Hitec 225MG mighty minis on the ailerons, 225BB on the throttle and Futaba 9402s on the elev and rudder.

The Ono spl comes with rounded wingtips. I would like to know the pros and cons of using rounded tips versus the conventional flats.

Cheers!!

RE: Seduction Freestyle Setup's

Some quick set-up tips:
1. Prop 13-6 or 14-4W.
2. CG@ 180mm from TRAILING edge.
3. For 3D set up max throws as per pan with generous negative expo, i.e. -80%.
4. For normal pattern flight set up Rudder at +/-30 deg(expo-35%), elevator at +/-15 deg (expo -18%), ailerons +/-10mm (expo -20%). Note that this is just a personal preference and it may vary from the "feel" you are looking for.

You will be amazed at what the plane can (and will!) do. It is a spining machine, blenders wonderfully and will elevator upright as well as inverted. The upright elevator IS stable as along as you set the throttle once and do not give short bursts (YS 63 has so much torque, it will destabilise the harrier if given short bursts).

Take care to build it straight (especially the elev. halves) and go out there, have fun, and throw all your other .40 sized planes to the bin...

RE: Seduction Freestyle Setup's

Can anyone tell me the control throws on the plans. I recently purchased the Freestyle and do not have any information. Also, is the CG measured from the trailing edge of the wing or the trailing edge of the aileron?

Thanks in advance,

Mark
