Will This Work???

How will a RCS 1.4 gas engine work on a C.Goldberg Super Chimpmunk? Or same engine on a 25% Lazer 200 kit sold by the B&B people? Thanks Captin John

I do not think an RCS 1.40 will be a good match for a Goldberg Super Chipmunk. It seems that a good .91 FS is what most people are flying in the CGM Super Chippie. The RCS 1.40 is about a pound heavier than a Saito .91 and about 1/2 a pound heavier than a YS .91. I also don't think you can swing a big enough prop for the RCS on that Chippie...

Just my 2 cents worth...

Cheers!

engines & planes

I seen a 1.4 on a C.G ultimate and just kinda wondered if with a 3 blade prop and the right landing gear, possibly the combo might work. Looks like the weight may be too much. Thanks John P.S I guess this was on the wrong forum, sorry about that

I have the SAITO 100 in my Goldberg 'Munk and it is PERRRRFECT. I run 30% heli fuel through it and it's great.

CHEECH: I just went to a fly-in and watched a lot of planes. I think I will get another chippy. I had a Satio .80 in mime several years ago and had it runing really good. Could take off in about 40 feet. It sure did sound good too. I agree the satio 100 should be very good. I wonder how much fuel yours uses? Would sure be nice to have a gas 100 0r 1.20 Satio, dont you think. Maybe someday in this hi-tech world. Thanks Captinjohn

You have a point, captinjohn. My 100 burns the heli fuel pretty fast. I have long since forgotten tank size, but my flights are now down to 8 minutes from 11 or better when I ran 15% nitro. The heli fuel burns faster.

Frankly, I just do NOT see the Goldberg chipmunk as a suitable airframe for a small gasser . And the cowl is NARROW. The problem with the Saito 120 is that it is heavy. It's the same case as the Saito 150 and 180 I believe. I think the 100 is perfect, but that's my $.02. I have power for days.

Cheech: I sure like your choice of planes. I advise others to check them also- if time permits. Il ike the colors you used also. Take Care John

RCS 1.4 on a Chipmunk or 25% Laser 200

How many small planes (say 10 lbs or less) will work with the RCS 1.4 gas engine, and be very aerobatic? Is there any? Thanks CaptinJohn
