RE: hoover

make a plane hoover? must be better then a 10LB oreck.......

seriously though, practice up high, then as you get comfortable go lower. just point the nose up a if you were entering a tail slide but add throttle right before you slide back. use the sticks and keep her straight.blip throttle, dont keep it constant.

Yes!I Hoover with my plane sometimes..
It is a very simple manouver.
I bolt on the largest high pitch prop my engine can handle. Then I taxie around in my front yard and blow all the leaves into my neighbors yard.....[sm=tongue.gif]
Even more fun with several aircraft around the place

But to Hover,do a search on here and loads of info will appear

Good points on all accounts. But first it helps tremendously to have your airplane set up correctly for 3D. If you need some help I will tell ya what I know but for now I am short on time.

Good luck and keep us posted.

I think "HOOVER" is a correct term for some one that is lurning to hover. "HOOVER" is a hover that sucks!!!:D Then when you get better you can call it a hover. What kind of plane did you get?

RE: hoover

I dunno. I knkow a guy with a 35% Extra with a DA100 sporting can mufflers and a 3-blade prop. It sounds like a hoover...

blip throttle, dont keep it constant.
I keep the throttle constant most of the time, even when I TR, I dont see the point on blipping the throttle - waste of battery :)

"I keep the throttle constant most of the time, even when I TR, I dont see the point on blipping the throttle - waste of battery"

You blip the throttle to give short bursts of air over the control surfaces as you make corrections. It also helps the plane start to roll if your plane has a hard time rolling. Try practicing on a simulator if you have one. Also look at the canopy of the plane instead of the tail when it is verticle.

RE: hoover

I don't need to mate, I've been TR'ing since i was 12 (no offence, I don't mean to sound cheeky or anything, i just havnt had a problem with constant throttle)

i mastered hovering about a year into flying (not boasting, but they do say young'uns learn faster) then i slowly turned it so it was side on, then i learnt nose in. that took about 2 years since i begun, then i got AFP and mixed it into one then i managed the TR on the sim, in a few weeks managed a reasonably hight TR then a few weeks ago i managed to get about a couple of inched of the deck TRing on my flip. see my 'proof i do fly 3D' thread;)

dean, how old are you and how long you been flying. I started when i was 12 and learnt to hover at 13.

RE: hoover

I started flying when I was 10, I'm 15 now, started to prop hang and TR when I was 11.
3rd place fun fly nats last year, the 4th year i've entered the nationals, hoping to get more into IMAC, and I would want to do more freestyle too, but it seems that the only freestyle comp around is the RCM&E one! [&:]

do you compete anywhere or fly at any shows? I've probz seen you around if you do. how old are you?

RE: hoover

you may have seen me watching a show lol. Im 14 (15 in june). Done no shows or comps tho as soon as i get my B cert ill try and get slots for W&W and weston. Im going to fly at this years RCME comp. Was going to have a go at the FF nats but ive lost intrest in FF. Love flying my cougar but not in a competitive way. 3D is my way. Its brilliant, what 3D freestlye planes you got? Its great fun that sort of flying.

As for hovering, you just power power power and then practice practice practice

Dean,
Were you the guy that crashed that Majestic with the Space and planets paint scheme at Sandown last year?
Do you fly for any of the trade display teams?
Youve probably seen a few antics of mine in some Pete Tindal slots.

D3AN0 03-17-2004 04:58 PM

RE: hoover

No, I wasn't the guy who crashed the majestic, in fact I wasn't even at Sandown!
However I am near to finishing a majesticy type 3d'r :D
Used to have a 25% Glen's Extra, you might have seen me about two years ago at the nationals showline, I had a 10 minute slot with 3 other people, and they made the other 3 land after about 2 minutes so I had a solo slot lol.... but sadly thats gone... crashed, repaired, never flew the same again, but the good news is, it was an excuse to go BIGGER! lol, currently building a 33% Staudacher, v.light, making the ailerons and elevators bigger, should be good!

Luke, I don't fly for anyone at the mo [:o] but if you know any company that's open to offers be sure to let me know ;)

cheers,

Dean
