YS63S & Laser3D
Just pre orderd the new YS63S to go into my Laser3D, do you think the stock fuel tank that comes with the kit would be suitable or should i replace it. If so what make should I go for?
Also do you think the YS will be alright on a Dubro soft mount? This is already installed as I was gonna use the Irvine 53. |
RE: YS63S & Laser3D
New tanks are pretty cheap so if you feel the stock one is weak, you can get a Hayes, Dubro, or Sullivan. Just make sure they are rigid wall tanks. You could just wrap your stock one in strapping tape (with the fibers). That's what I did. I would at least get a new stopper like a Sullivan brand or similar quality. They are nice and soft and last a long time.
I would not use a soft mount on these engines. Joe |
RE: YS63S & Laser3D
Definitely replace the stock tank. I used the stock one at first, thinking that it looked tough enough, actually i was just too lazy to buy a new one, and it lasted maybe five or six flights before it sprung a leak. I replaced it with a dubro and haven't had any problems since.
My old style 63 has a soft mount on the Laser 3D and it works great. I also mounted the engine upright which took some head scratching because of the size of the mount, dubro as well, but it worked out okay. I've got a couple hundred flights on it now, and though I have considered pulling the engine out for another airplane, I'll probably fly it until it comes apart. Touch and go's at the bottom of a square loop are a blast with this thing! Good luck on the build, you'll love the plane. |
